The meaning of hand gestures in other countries

The actions not to be done abroad

When you travel to the rest of the world, there are some gestures who do not want to say the same thing at all when you use them. And even if the body language can be fun or simply useful, some actions are to ban your habits once abroad

L’ infographic Below (in English) explains a dozen gestures that have a totally different meaning depending on the country you are in.

For example the sign “come here” with your index finger, which would mean for someone to come here, would be very offensive in the Philippines since this gesture in this country is only used for dogs...

Or the finger crossing, which means “good luck”, is assimilated to Vietnam as the female genitalia, and is therefore considered obscene.
