According to the testimonies, they normally live with the living and lead a life identical to that of the living. Against the characters of the famous series Walking Dead , they are peaceful and they do not kill their fellows.
The lolovokatra of Madagascar
The Malagasies fear and worship both the deceased. They believe that their souls still live among them and are able to see, guide and protect their families, friends and acquaintances, or even the entire community.
With a few ethnic groups in the south-eastern part of Madagascar, it is assumed that people from specific clans come out of graves after being buried. After that, these living beings, in flesh and bone, live again and they will still have the advantage of living successively seven lives. This conviction is also rooted in the minds of the inhabitants of other regions of the great island. Various appellations are dedicated to the living dead, among others, "lolo vokatra" in the regions of the high plateaus of Madagascar, "tanalasoa" in the south and "lolo raty" with the sakalava (northwest ethnicity of the great island).
subjective descriptions of the "lolo vokatra"
According to one, the vokatra lolo keeps their morphology before. They wear the clothes they had during the funeral. They exhale an unpleasant smell and have a pale shade.
It is also said that once the tombs have come out, the “lo vokatra” move into other cities for obscure reasons. Maybe, so we don't recognize them? Many witnesses argue that they have seen or met in nearby or remote cities, one or more dead people they have known.
Would it be lolo vokatra or the sosies of the deceased? What is certain is that there are strange phenomena in the regions where the “lo vokatra” exist.
The strange acts attributed to the "lolo vokatra"
During important rituals such as mortuary velvets and Return of the dead , it is customary to give food to the living dead to the clans who believe in the vokatra lolo. To the great surprise of all, much of the meals dedicated to this effect disappear after a few hours, while the remains are scattered everywhere. Does that mean that the vokatra lolo feeds like us?
Vols of food cooked in pantry and maraudages of ripe fruit are also recurring in the South of Madagascar. As such acts of scam are among the prohibitions so repressed by the communities in the region, one wonders who did what? However, everyone is convinced that these offences were committed by the Malagasy "walking dead".
