Thailand, backpacker destination par excellence

Going to Thailand in backpack mode

Thailand is certainly one of the ideal destinations for a "backpack" journey, for its prices of course but also for the ease with which you can organize your trip there day by day to not say minute per minute. Thailand backpack Thailandee

What are the ideal corners for backpackers?

A Bangkok , the rustic neighborhood is Khao San Road , this is where the largest concentration of rooms at low prices is located. For the rest of the country, it is much easier to travel in the North and even more in the Northeast called Isaan for a very small daily budget . The more popular your destination is in tourists and with a nice beach, and the more it is in the South, the more prices fly. But often a few kilometers from large tourist destinations, we already find more reasonable prices.

Dorms, guesthouses and small cheap hotels

The choice of guesthouses or cheap hotels in Thailand is prolific, especially in the North and North-East (Isaan) of the country where you can find double rooms for less than 10 euros and dorm beds from 3 to 6 euros or very basic bamboo huts for the same price. In general for the rooms there are two levels of comfort: rooms with fan (less expensive) or air-conditioned rooms. After, if the bathroom is common, it’s cheaper, if there’s only cold water, it’s cheaper... In large tourist destinations in the South ( Phuket , Koh Phi Phi , Koh Tao, etc...), the price quality ratio is much less good. Note that the WWOOFING in Thailand is also growing more and more especially near Chiang Mai.

Eating for cheap

It is very easy to eat for a euro or even a little less in Thailand. Small restaurants are legion and street food omnipresent. In the evening, the good plan to eat cheap is the night markets, almost every Thai city has its own. Otherwise, another good plan to eat cheap, the Food Centers are found in most shopping centers and in supermarkets like Big C. Thailande transport Thailandee

Transport

To move, the cheapest, remains the train to Thailand . In the third class, prices are derisory! However, it takes time because trains are slow and almost systematically late. They're not going anywhere either. Otherwise, you will have to take the bus, more expensive but at very low prices compared to our Western standards.

Even if we feel that efforts are made especially under the leadership of the Tourist Authority of Thailand (TAT) to target categories of more “high-end” travellers, the backpackers still have beautiful days ahead of them in the Smile Country!
