Wiesn Koks, the weird and legal drug that is carding at Oktoberfest

There is a strange, yet legal drug, whose premises swept during the Oktoberfest in Munich.

To the question “what powder is white, and sniffs at the Oktoberfest?”, we are tempted to answer the cocaine. In reality, it is Wiesn Koks, a drug with similar appearance to that of the coke also known as the “cocaine of the Oktoberfest "

No, we don’t drink only beer at the famous Oktoberfest eponymous party Munich . Even if the star remains the beer (nearly 7 million litres of beer are consumed during the event), more and more premises can be seen sniffing a white substance everywhere, in all legality. The Wiesn Koks, which is also known as Wiesn Pulver (poudre), or Bavarian cocaine, has become the choice of the munichois.

A little on the same principle as tobacco , the Wiesn koks is made from glucose and menthol and is sold in small glass bottles or typical Bavarian containers for about 5€.

In your guide, you may have read that you will see at the Oktoberfest people dressed in traditional Lederhosen drinking beer in huge chops, but you will not find any mention of the Wiesn Koks.

The powder is usually cut in lines on tables under the beer tents to be sniffed by the nostrils. But the Oktoberfest being a very agitated party, the tables are usually soaked with beers and especially sticky, which forces certain to literally type the powder on the back of their hand.

Although it looks like real coke, the Wiesn Koks is harmless. Of course, you take a small shot of sugar, and the menthol gives an ice effect to your sinus, but that’s pretty much all. Wiesn Koks does not contain any drugs or tobacco. That said, everything is about moderation: sniffering too much could make you bleeding from the nose.

Although it is absolutely safe, tent owners and security personnel have tried to sever this tradition for years. However, the locals refuse to give up this little piece of culture, because it is really what it is: a cultural and seasonal tradition that bathes in festivities and comradery.
