With 12.4 million inhabitants and a population density of 21,000 inhabitants per km2, Paris is often described as one of the world’s most expensive cities with London, Tokyo and Sydney. Yet, considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world, it attracts more than 22 million visitors – French and foreign – each year. To welcome all this small world, the French capital has an abundance of hotel accommodations of 116.000 rooms, not to mention the apartments Airbnb .

Paris is like a small country in France, divided into 20 districts and 80 administrative districts. Each of them has its own identity, culture, history and unique atmosphere. Paris was so much sung, filmed, photographed – all over the world – that each of its coins evokes an important part of French culture. However, it may be difficult for you to know where to stay, so here is a presentation of the best areas to stay in Paris.

Latin Quarter

Quartier des étudiants, des poets et des autres artistes par excellence throughout the centuries, the Quartier Latin is one of the oldest in Paris. It is this neighborhood that you have to choose to sleep in Paris if you like to co-locate academics, teachers, students, artists for a dynamic atmosphere but without being stressful. The district houses the remains of the Gallo-Roman arenas of Lutèce, the famous Sorbonne University, the Pantheon , the Palais du Luxembourg and its gigantic garden, Boulevard Saint-Michel and the famous Théâtre de l’Odéon. It is a pleasant area, heavily charged with history and art. You will find hotels classified from one to four stars.

Montmartre

Very famous all over the world, the Montmartre district, on its eponymous butt, houses the famous Basilica of the Sacred Heart , built at the site where the struggle of the Commune began in 1871 against the Prussians and monarchists of the Government of Versailles. To stay in Paris, the Monmartre district will be a successful romantic and cultural getaway. It also welcomes the Place du Tertre, one of the city’s must-sees. Also, restaurants such as the Moulin de la Galette and even a 2000 m2 vineyard in the middle of Paris! This is Clos Montmartre, a vineyard that is more than a thousand years old! Sleeping in Paris in the Montmartre district, it’s walking around the paved once by the great characters like G. Apollinaire, P. Picasso, C. Chaplin... Place des Abesses, couples will live their love at the Wall of I love you in music, under the sound of the dumb accordions or the swing manouche. Finally, enjoy the cemetery of Montmartre to see the grave of great personalities of history.

Batignolles, Epinettes, Plaine-Monceau

Between the worldlines, the chic hotels of the south and the popular neighborhoods of the north, the Batignolles-Monceau district makes a good compromise to stay in Paris. Located in the largest district of the capital – the 17th -, the names of the boulevards will recall in addition many songs and many films: Batignolles, Clignancourt, Clichy... It is a peaceful area that has many parks, like the famous Monceau Park and the Batignolles Square that will sublimate your beautiful days. You will enjoy Place Charles-de-Gaulle-Étoile or Place de Clichy and the atmosphere of a small village northwest of Paris. One can imagine walking in the footsteps of illustrious characters who have marked contemporary cultural history: Verlaine, Manet, Degas, Mallarmé, Barbara, Brel, Brassens, Renaud, Mano Solo, etc. From popular to starry, you will find good cuisine and many bars very frequented by Parisian youth. It is our little favourite to stay in Paris: central, artistic, historical, relaxed, friendly and cosmopolitan!

Saint-Germain-des-Près

Here's a tiny neighborhood, adjacent to the Latin Quarter. Small, but very popular for its charm and recognized for its bohemian atmosphere, architecture, art galleries and churches. Surrounded by the Seine, there is either by the docks – close to the famous Pont des Arts and Pont Neuf – and also by the Saint-Germain-des-Près metro, or Mabillon. The poets and writers have custom to settle there, so go in the footsteps of Verlaine and Rimbaud (but also so many others!), discover an independent bookstore and enjoy a good coffee or a good wine on the terrace of a typical Parisian bistro. A rather bobo but chichi-free atmosphere, where you love good things but without outrage. Are you a Epicurian and like art? It’s in this neighborhood!

Faubourg Saint-Germain

Formerly agglomerated “Out of the Walls” in Paris, Faubourg Saint-Germain today represents the district of ministries west of the left bank. It is a very chic and prestigious neighbourhood, where you will obviously discover the Eiffel Tower , the garden of Champ-de-Mars, the famous Quais de Branly, d’Orsay, the Musée d’Orsay, a large number of institutions of the Republic – like the Hotel Matignon, the Palais Bourbon, where the National Assembly is based - as well as the largest ministries and many private hotels. Needless to say, that the rates will be excessively high, this neighborhood is very central, but it is more fortuned visitors.

The neighbourhoods of the Eiffel Tower

Located on its four vaulted legs, the “ Dame de Fer” overlooks Paris and the bridge of Iéna, which spans the Seine to reach the Trocadéro, towards the Passy neighborhoods in the south, Chaillot in the northeast, to the northeast Arc de Triomphe and Avenue des Champs-Élysées. By continuing, discover the Invalides, the Jardin des Tuileries and the Île de la Cité... On horseback on the 7th, 15th and 16th arrondissements, the neighbourhoods of the Eiffel Tower are among the chic districts of Paris. Provide a comfortable budget to accommodate.

It is the district of the great restaurants, gourmets, and also theatre enthusiasts who animate the streets in the evening. If you like holiday and exit places, prefer the bars of the Marais and Bastille district. From the Opéra to the Bourse, it is a chic neighborhood – again – where the accommodation rates are rather expensive. As in the entire second district, it is also the district for a quality shopping stay, with large high-end fashion clothing brands. Enter the Garnier Opera if you are an amateur of great music and ballets. If you like the hupped artistic atmospheres, fashion design and French gastronomy, don't look in which area to sleep in Paris!

Bastille, Republic, Nation

In the triangle of Republic to Nation, passing through the Bastille, a trendy neighborhood is unveiled to the visitor who can mix with local fauna, a trendy youth who enjoys a renowned cultural area in Paris. Between the Opéra Bastille and the Marais, you can find places of artistic and cultural outings – concert halls such as the Bataclan -, and all mouth crafts – restaurants, must-have bakeries in Paris, and affordable breweries. Formerly popular, this bourgeois neighbourhood has a range of luxurious and cheap accommodations.
