With its geographical reach – 6,032 km2 -, 432 kilometres of coastline on the Mediterranean Sea, and its wealth, it is one of the most visited departments in France. In addition, a dream climate, heavenly beaches, massive sublimes – the Maures or the Sainte-Baume – and important wooding (58.3% of its area is wooded), make it an exceptional department where to do outdoor activities.

Natur’Evasion

To make kayaking in the Var and outdoor activities in the heart of Provence, Natur’Evasion combines two formulas: sea kayaking and canoeing on the Argens. At the start of Bandol, this rental offers 8 routes to kayak in the sea to the sea to a nautical mile. Itineraries for canoeing on the Argens go from Correns or Carcès, pass through the eponymous lake, to the Fadons on the commune of Le Thoronet. Some routes are more sporty than others, with rapids, and range from 4 to 30 kilometers of hiking.

This nautical base located in Roquebrunes-sur-Argens, not far from the lake of the Arèna. The base allows kayaking in a protected site classified as Natura 2000, in the lower Argens valley. The kayak hike will offer an excellent view of the majestic rock of Roquebrune-sur-Argens. Two routes, from 6 to 14 kilometers and a sporting journey consisting of 40 speeds (on reservation), are possible. Departure to the Arcs-sur-Argens, passing through the gorges of the Tournavelle, from the rapids to the Muy, to the beach of Saint-Aygulf.

Impressive canyon dug by the Verdon between the Castellane Prealpes and the Digne Prealpes, the Verdon Gorges have a depth of 700 meters for 6 to 100 meters wide at the river level and 200 to 1,500 meters from one wall to another at the top of the gorges. Long 175 kilometres, the Verdon allows kayaking along the border between the departments of Var to the south and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence to the north. Rental Nautic allows you to rent kayaks from 1 to 4 places to get to the deepest of the Verdon Gorges.
