The famous French chef has the only star restaurant in the heart of the Korean capital

A son of a famous chef, Pierre Gagnaire fell very early in the world of the kitchen. He worked in several institutions for a few years before opening his own table in 1981. Very quickly, his kitchen was noticed and he won three stars in the Michelin Guide in 1993.

It has obviously always been attracted to Asia, notably by opening a first restaurant in Tokyo, then in Hong Kong. From 2008 he headed to Seoul, South Korea, to open an establishment with his name, Pierre Gagnaire in Seoul .

It is still today the only starred restaurant in the Michelin Guide of the entire Korean capital, and for cause: the hotel is located on the 35th floor of the luxury hotel Lotte Seoul , and offers a superb view of this city in perpetual movement. Its cuisine, inspired by France, offers modern creations that include mainly molecular cooking techniques, which are highly appreciated in Asia. The menu offers various menus to give way to the creativity of the internationally renowned chef.

The place is also inspired by French notes thanks to its architect, Olivier Gagnère, who wished to give it a very “Château de Versailles”. Porcelain whispers, large round tables, gilding and large glass windows give the Pierre Gagnaire restaurant a classic Parisian but very high-end atmosphere.

Finally, the wine map is impressive: in total, more than 270 suggestions including 130 bottles that had never been imported into the country before. An impressive map, which perfectly describes the atmosphere of this restaurant located on the roofs of Seoul.

The establishment Pierre Gagnaire in Seoul won in 2009 the award of the best restaurant in South Korea by the Guide Miele, and Pierre Gagnaire is the first star restaurant in Seoul. A challenge that visibly bears its fruit, as seven years later, the hotel is always full of room and enjoys an excellent reputation within the Korean and international community.
