However, staying in the Bahamas is usually rather expensive. If you are looking for a place to sleep in Nassau, Freeport, West End or George Town, you will need a large budget.
The most visited islands in the Bahamas are New Providence (constructing Nassau), Grand Bahama, Eleuthera and Great Exuma. Here is without further delay our presentation of the islands where to stay in the Bahamas.
Nassau
Nassau is the capital of the country and houses more than 66 per cent (two-thirds) of its total population. The most pleasant areas of Nassau are located in the northeast of the island, facing the famous Paradise Island: Downtown Nassau.
From Fort Montagu to the east in Parliament Square, there are some hotels where to sleep but there are not many tourist attractions to see. It is a good point if one wishes to enjoy an authentic local life living at the mercy of the sun and the sea. Visit the chip market itself (Nassau Straw Market), wander the Queen’s Staircaise and Fort Fincastle. On Paradise Island , the Atlantis Casino is a must if you love luxury and silver games. The island offers many beaches and a wide choice of hotels – high-end – where to stay in Nassau. Finally, you can find many bars and restaurants. South of the island, enjoy the Bonefish Pond National Park , sheltering on 520 hectares a mangrove ecosystem with idyllic charm.

Grand Bahama
Grand Bahama is the fourth island of the Bahamas, with for main city Freeport. Located 88 kilometres from the coast of Florida, the island has a population of 51,756 inhabitants (2010). Nommed Gran Bajamar – large shallow sea – by the Spanish conquistadors, it may be the name of the island that gave its name to the country. The low depth of the waters and the coral broke the Spaniards on several occasions and attracted the Pirates, eager for looting, before the latter were eliminated by the British Empire in the 18th century.
If you choose to book accommodation where to sleep in Grand Bahama, you will be seduced by the beauty of the beaches of the island, between the coves, reefs, mangroves and luxury hotels. Most of the activities to be undertaken are on the South coast of Freeport : Lucaya Beach, Taino Beach, Port Lucaya Marina, Peterson Cay National Park, Coral Beach, etc. But as much as to say: finding cheap hotels where to sleep in Freeport will also be difficult!
