From November 1, 2017, visiting the Eiffel Tower will cost you more: we explain why!
Eiffel Tower , the iconic building of Paris and France is constantly attracting French and foreign visitors: more than 6 million people go there every year. In 2015, the Eiffel Tower attracted 6,917,000 visitors.
But from this Wednesday, November 1, 2017, the rates to access the floors of the tower until its pinnacle increase. The rise in prices is often the black beast of tourists but since nothing happens at random, several reasons explain this inflation.
New rates to visit the Eiffel Tower
Before Wednesday, November 1, adults had to pay €17 to climb to the third floor (the summit) by elevator. The second floor by elevator was accessible for 11 €, and the entrance ticket for the second floor by stairs cost 7 €.
Here's what changes on November 1st:
- The ticket for the summit by elevator passes to 25 €, or 47 % increase,
- The access ticket to the second floor by elevator is €16, or 45% higher,
- The access ticket on the second floor by the staircase passes, it, to 10 €, or 43% increase.
Children under the age of 4 and allocataries of the RSA can continue to visit the place for free.
Note that if you hate waiting queues, you can pay a few extra euros for a cut-file ticket, and enter the Lady of Fer as a V.I.P member!
Why such a price increase?
Paris envisages the construction of a huge glass balls close Ceinating the two gardens and lakes of the Eiffel Tower, this in order to prevent the potential risks of attacks.
The cost of this colossal project is estimated at 300 million euros.
In order not to increase the tax burden on Parisians, the city council chose to support the financing of these major works by visitors themselves. Indeed, 85% of the customers coming to the Eiffel Tower are foreign visitors.
The company operating the Eiffel Tower justifies and legitimizes the rise of prices by the fact that visit the Empire State Building costs for example 46 €, this price being much less in reality (see link).
Let us hope that the outside demand will not be too sensitive to the price and that the tourists will continue to visit the Eiffel Tower rather than divert to less expensive buildings, such as the Eiffel Tower Colosseum of Rome or Sagrada Familia Barcelona .
