Today, the media travel is committed to the search for the Pyrenean browser: to participate in the first Mini-Transat of its career in September. A solo race linking France to the Antilles and opening the doors of the most famous Vendée Globe...

bold, ambitious and determined. Here are certainly the most just adjectives to describe not only Hugo Picard, but also his project.
Born in the Pyrenees, he graduated in Montpellier before working in the heart of the United Nations (UN) for four years as a project leader. Various and varied projects, but never sound project.
In 2017, while his passion for navigation, his travel desires and his need for freedom continued to grow, Hugo’s life accelerated. He buys a boat, or rather a wreck, for a symbolic euro, and decides to take a sabbatical year to restore the one who becomes his "Ecum of the Seas".
Unpretentiously, he began a series of videos in which he shared his project and his progress on a daily basis. Hugo Picard then collapses to give way to “The Sailing Frenchman”.
A marked French accent, a reddish beard and a 100% natural style make the success of its channel Youtube and its social networks. Once the restoration of his boat is over, The Sailing Frenchman takes the sea, accompanied by some friends, towards the Balearic Islands.
Finally, it begins a solo journey through the oceans, which will lead it to the mythical Caribbean, the promised land of all browsers. This is how the desire for navigation slowly leaves its place to that of the regatta. The Sailing Frenchman gradually leaves her boat, and participates in many races as a team-mate, such as “Les Voiles de Saint Barth” or “Anti Antigua Race Week”.
Today, it is in solitary that Hugo Picard wants to settle, by participating for the first time in one of the most forming regattas in the world: the Mini-Transat 2021.

This is how, two years after the first Mini-Transat of History (in 1977), Jean-Luc Van Den Heede spoke on this transatlantic race.
A few 42 years later, the Mini-Transat, played every odd year, is still considered one of the most majestic races in the world. Constituted by only two stages, it connects the metropolitan coasts to the Antilles, with a ten-day break on the edge of the Canary Islands.

Created to return to the basics of navigation, it is the culmination of the Mini Class course. The Mini-Transat brings together the best skippers, the hopes of tomorrow but also sailors in search of adrenaline and freedom, that of sailing alone.
Because the particularity of this regatta lies in its difficulty: no help, no weather routing or any contact with the farmland is allowed, under penalty of elimination. The navigators thus find themselves alone with their boat, facing the ocean. For this reason, it is considered the gateway to the Vendée Globe.
This year, the Mini-Transat will be made up of 84 sailors, and will leave Les Sables d’Olonne on September 26. The first stage will take place until Santa Cruz de Palma, while the second stage will lead the skippers to Saint-François, Guadeloupe.
