In which quarter house in Tehran?

Are you planning to visit Tehran for a trip or to settle in Iran? Here are the best areas to stay in Tehran!

Located at the foot of the mountains and in a plain descending towards the Elbourz Mountains, Tehran is the tentacular capital of Iran. With almost 9 million inhabitants and 15 million people in its urban area – the population has been multiplied by 40 in 200 years of history – the economic and cultural development of Tehran is fulgurating. Fascinating, divided from the north to the south, to the polluted charm because of its galoping urbanization, with an impressive cultural heritage (museums, monuments) and good restaurants, the Iranian capital has many advantages to offer if you come to stay in Tehran.

Iran is indeed a cultural and historical power from the Persian Empire and the ancient history of Mesopotamia. Today, Tehran is a cosmopolitan city renowned for its warm and friendly population. It is subdivided into 112 districts, of which we will only introduce a small part: here are the places to sleep in Tehran.

Downtown

Areas in the city centre are grouped in districts 10, 11, 12 and 17 mainly. Several different atmospheres reign there, but we recommend them to stay in Tehran because it is in the city center that you will find most of the historical monuments of the city and most of the social life. See the Golestan Palace and the Tehran Grand Bazar. It will be an opportunity to uncover your memories – not to forget that shopping here is a very widespread bargaining activity – for some rials. Take a detour through the mosque of Imam Khomeiny and admire the minaret of Pamenar.

North of the City Park, reserve time to visit the National Museum of Iran, an archaeological museum of the pre-Islamic era containing antiquities of the ancient Persia, pottery objects, metal, books or pieces of the time: a hollow of the Persian heritage. Even further north, in Laleh Park, the Carpet Museum is worth a visit. It presents a wide variety of Persian rugs from the 18th century to the present day and more than 7,000 pounds.

If you are a fan of ancient art, visit the Tehran Museum of Glass and Ceramics – Abguineh Museum – where are stored pottery dating from the 4th century before our era. Enjoy the oriental pastries by enjoying an excellent tea, taste Iranian specialities (Lamb and Chicken Brochettes, Rice, ousban, khoresh fesenjan). Target the city centre to stay in Tehran and be at the heart of the social activity of the capital.

Elahieh

Elahieh, and especially Tajrish are among the most popular neighborhoods in Tehran. It is one of the oldest parts of the city but the area is at the same time occupied by wealthy populations due to the low pollution that reigns there. There are also many embassies. Located in the north, on the foothills of the mountains, the air is more breathable and there are two major tourist sites: the old bazaar and the mausoleum Imam Zadeh Saleh. Tajrish Square is one of the most active in Tehran. It is a pleasant area where to sleep in Tehran, away from the tumult and polluted centre. To the north, take advantage of the Palace Saad Abad, a set of palaces built by the Qadjare Dynasty and the Pahlavi dynasty of Iran, which allows to observe Iran’s great cultural wealth.

District 3

Located north of Tehran, District 3 – Gholhak, Jordan, Ekhtiarieh, Davoodiyeh, Darrous – are places where the affluence is important all year round. Choosing this area to stay in Tehran can be ideal because you will be there between the northern tranquillity and the bustle of downtown to the south. Jordan is a rich residential area where there are many shopping centres, fashion shops, florists, restaurants, cafes and art galleries, while Darrous is one of the richest neighborhoods in the city. In Vanak you will find many parks, cafes, shopping centers.
