Important seaside resort of the east coast of Italy, Pescara, established on the shores of the Adriatic Sea is the largest cities of the Abruzzo (121 325 inhabitants). Located 210 kilometres from Rome and 250 kilometres Naples Pescara is a little known destination for the general public, but whose tourism development is booming. The city has been occupied since Antiquity, especially since the Roman Empire, marked by Norman conquests in the 12th century and by those of Charles Quint in the 16th century, it became a strong military place of France during the Napoleonic Wars in the 19th century. After a relative decline, it is now an important regional metropolis of the Adriatic coast. Staying in Pescara is worth visiting a city in the heart of its nightlife, and visiting many places and monuments worthy of interest.

In the city center of Pescara, do not miss seeing the Ponte del mare – bridge of the sea - and to visit the casa natale di Gabriele D’Annunzio , the home of the popular poet Gabriele D’Annunzio, a museum dedicated to his life and his works. The Abruzzo People's Museum – museo delle genti d’Abruzzo – is to be done, it presents exhibitions on ceramics and olive oil, emblematic of the economic activity of the region. At seafront level – lungomare G. Matteotti - you will find the Museum of Modern Art Vittoria Colonna (1490-1547), where you can admire the works of Miro and Picasso. Along the same seafront, many bars and restaurants will taste the delights of Italian cuisine.

Close to the town of Pescara, there are beaches if you are looking to swim in the warm waters of the Adriatic Sea. The beaches of Montesilvano, Torre di Cerrano and Silvi Marina for example, but also south to Francavilla al Mare, where you will find public baths and a long sand cord, hotels and campsites where to stay in Ghiomera, Lido Riccio, to the commune of Ortona. If you are vehiculated, take the road to climb the massifs and make beautiful hikes.
