Getting to Nuremberg is not complicated. Discover the best areas to sleep in this magnificent medieval city!
Second largest city of Bavaria after Munich , Nuremberg is a picturesque and medieval town, which has an undeniable charm despite its modernity. This German city has 515 000 inhabitants, spread over 186 km2. It is one of the major cultural cities in Germany, thanks to its technological excellence, its charm and its preserved heritage.
Known for hosting the famous Nuremberg trial after the Second World War, its historic centre was almost completely destroyed by the allied bombings. The streets of the Old Town testify both to the reconstruction effort undertaken and to the bombings that ravaged them. The main points of interest of the city are the castle of Nuremberg, royal and imperial residence for nearly five centuries, the church of Saint-Sébald or the fortifications of the city and its 67 towers, almost intact.
To visit Nuremberg, choosing your accommodation and location is important. The city is extended and being close to monuments and museums can be very interesting, and less tiring! This is why we have prepared a selection of the best areas to stay in Nuremberg.
The Mitte: the historic city centre
You don't know where to sleep in Nuremberg? Nothing better than having accommodation inside the ramparts! The Mitte is the Old City of Nuremberg, located in the center of the city. You will find in this neighborhood the most famous historical monuments.
For your accommodation in Nuremberg, two options are available: • Stay in the North of the Pegnitz, where the Imperial Castle and the Church of St. Sebald are located. • Book accommodation in Nuremberg south of the river, where you will find Ehekarussell and the Church of Saint Lorenz.
The whole area, in the South or in the North, is easily walking. This is the advantage of the Mitte: you do not need to take public transport to get around. In addition, you will have the choice for your accommodation in Nuremberg.

Himpfelshof and Gostenhof
These two neighbourhoods are located in the south-west of the Old Town. To stay in Nuremberg cheap, these neighborhoods are perfect. The prices are on average lower than those in the nearby Mitte district. The most: you can easily access the monuments and charming streets of Old Town on foot. You also avoid the night tumult of downtown.
Finally, from the Himpfelshof district, it is possible to go to the banks of the Pegnitz, where there are some nice green spaces to walk or rest!

Tafelhof: the neighborhood close to the station where to stay in Nuremberg
If you arrive by train, we recommend choosing accommodation in Nuremberg in this area. It is located just south of the Mitte and east of the main train station (booking your accommodation next to the train station will prevent you from carrying your belongings through the city, on foot). The prices when at them are on average lower than in the Mitte, as for the two neighborhoods above. And to access the Old Town, nothing simpler: you can go on foot to visit the many sights and attractions of Nuremberg!
