In which quarter house in Lugano?

What to do by preparing a trip to Switzerland? Where is Switzerland going? This is in which area to stay in Lugano!

Ninth city of Switzerland by its population, the city of Lugano is bordered with Italy, in the middle of the Alps, a few kilometers from Milan and between Lake Maggiore and Lake Maggiore Lake Como . Due to its ideal location in Italian Switzerland – an ideal climate, rich and lush vegetation, sublime landscapes -, Lugano is a high place of tourism. It is also the third financial place in the country.

Its historical and cultural heritage is important, like its religious buildings and museums, in large numbers for a permanent population of only 63,932. With sustained growth, it gradually phagocytes the surrounding communes, until it creates a vast urban area of 150,000 inhabitants.

So much to say: staying in Lugano will be expensive. For example, via Nassa is known to be the fifth most expensive shopping street in Switzerland, and houses luxury boutiques. Paradoxically, you can easily find accommodations to sleep, given the continuous expansion of the city centre and in residential areas. Here are the areas where to stay in Lugano.

Downtown

Rolled around the north shores of Lake Lugano, the city center has small airs of Baie d’Along or Pain de Sucre de Rio de Janeiro, exaggerating a little: its rock overlooking the lake gives a typical charm to the city. The squares in the neighborhood are simply sublime: the Piazza della Riforma wins the palm of the most beautiful square in the city, not far from the courtyard of Palazzo Civico, neoclassical style. If you come to the second week of July, don't miss the festival Estival Jazz .

The rest of the year, wander in the labyrinth of alleys where architecture gives air to Tuscany and Liguria, but the high standing and number of luxury shops dotted the pavement, remind us that we are still in Switzerland. Errant along the via Nassa, take a look at the church of San Carlo Borromeo, then continue on the church of Santa Maria degli Angioli if you enjoy visiting religious buildings. For a relaxing break in your urban tours, enjoy the Ciani Park and the greenery print it enjoys on the shores of the lake. Not far, between the ferries terminal and Viale Carlo Cattaneo, there are many bars where you can enjoy a glass on the terrace. Do not look to sleep in Lugano if you have the means to pay you a hotel!

East neighborhoods

On the other side of the small stream – Cassarate – , are less central areas in terms of access to conveniences and places of social life (museums, bars, restaurants, historical monuments), but a neighborhood where to stay if you like to evade away from cities to find nature: the east of Lugano is located on the slopes of the Monte Brè , from which one can climb into a funicular to enjoy, at 925 meters above sea level, a splendid view of Lake Lugano. Attention, there are few hotels to stay here but you can find other accommodation solutions, such as a room or apartment for rent at the living room to stay in Lugano and enjoy the lake.
