Khao San Road

At least once the streets are paved and completely out of the Khao San Road neighbourhood. It is the Thai "Sift Street", a symbol of the International Day – but also of the sexual debauchery – in Bangkok. Everything is cheap, crowded, overvolted, noisy and festive almost 24/7.

It is here that the tourists from all over the world – the pharangs say the Thais – who wander through the desires (hotels, guesthouses, bars and cheap restaurants, shopping, massages, tattoos, night market, fastfoods, travel agencies...). Here, it is the West in Asia, the playground of the biggest parties. It is your neighborhood if you like all this, with premium rooms and apartments very cheap (from 2 € per night).

Sukhumvit

One of Bangkok’s most famous and popular neighbourhoods, there are many European and Japanese expatriates. The air subway is nearby, it’s the ideal to go everywhere avoiding caps in taxis or gasing hydrocarbons in the city’s tuk-tuk.

Main Bangkok artery, Sukhumvit is a very lively neighborhood in the evening. However, the narrow mesh of its hundreds of alleys offers a singular mix between the overflowing and quieter areas.

Choose this area where to sleep in Bangkok if you enjoy cosmopolitan areas, lively, and close to shopping malls and if you like at the same time, romantic evenings where to admire the city on the roofs of the hotels.

Siam and Pratunam, downtown

Shop lovers and good business, this is your hunting ground. Bangkok, Siam and Pratunam are home to the largest shopping malls in the city: the gigantic MBK, Siam Paragon, Platinium, Central World, Palladium, etc. Here we forget the Buddhist Thailand to glean a thousand and a babioles in the temple of consumption.

The place is ideal for sleeping in Bangkok because it is on the margins of mass tourism, near shopping centers, and not far from the shuttle boats to reach Sukhumvit and Rattanakosin, the district of temples.

Here you will find yourself on the right bank, west of the Chao Phraya River. If you are looking for authentic Bangkok sizzled by countless channels – the khlongs - and you want to get out of the most frequented areas by hordes of Western tourists, choose Thonburi to stay in Bangkok.

If there are much less tourist activities to be done in the Thonburi area, it still houses an immanquable capital: the Wat Arun. It is probably one of the most famous Bangkok temples, which is on all postcards.

Chinatown " Hua Lamphong

Like all world megapolises, Bangkok owns its Chinese neighborhood (Samphanthawong). There are few hotels, it is the disadvantage, but this Chinese market is a tourist curiosity in itself. The streets are busy all day and night, and the advantage is that there are fewer Western tourists than elsewhere in Bangkok.

Close to the Chao Phraya River, you will also be near Hua Lamphong Station, the starting point of all excursions to the mountains of the north – Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai – or the islands of the south. If you like Asian gastronomy, this is the ideal place to find accommodation in Bangkok because you will double the flavors, between the delights of Thai cuisine and the wonders of Chinese food.

In this concrete city, you will certainly like the "Central Park" spirit of Lumphini Park, where you can go running, relax, test the outdoor strength areas, or admire the park's varans. Lumphini is a rather chic neighborhood with high-end hotels for travellers with a rather high budget or for business travellers.

Atypical, dynamic and especially very discreet in terms of tourists (because rather underestimated), the area around Victory Monument (the famous Bangkok obelisk), located near BTS station, is one of the areas to be preferred if you are looking for a more "Thai" accommodation in Bangkok and want to benefit from a convenient area in terms of travel.

In addition to being the starting point of some excursions (mainly by bus), it houses good addresses such as jazz bars (refer to the "Saxophone Pub" for amateurs), very famous around the corner. Known for its nightlife, Victory Monument is part of Bangkok's QG to get out for a drink or eat in one of its street-food restaurants.

Near Bangkok airports

If you are only passing to Bangkok and are looking for a convenient accommodation the time of a transfer to another destination, then opt for a ground foot close to the two airports of the vile. You have the choice between the hotels/Airbnb around Suvarnabhumi (the most recent and the largest) and Don Muang (the oldest and welcoming low-cost and regional flights): However, if Suvarnabhumi is served by the subway to reach the city centre, Don Muang only enjoys a shuttle to reach the heart of Bangkok. From Don Muang you can also take a shuttle to Suvarnabhumi Airport if necessary.
