Are you planning a trip to Reunion Island? We'll help you find in which city to stay at the Meeting!
Located in the southern hemisphere west of the Indian Ocean, La Réunion has a population of 850,727 inhabitants (2015) for an area of 2,512 km2. The relief is very marked on the Meeting, which brings great climate diversity and a permanent influence on the winds of alloys. Between the tropical beaches, the "spots" of hiking in the mountains of the centre – especially near the Piton des Neiges – and the cities (Saint-Denis, Saint-Gilles-les-Bains, Saint-Pierre, Saint-André, Saint-Benoît, etc.), you will discover a multicultural and varied island. Attention, finding accommodation can be expensive, as in the major cities of metropolis ( Lyon or Toulouse ). Local food will also be required, as imported products are 30% to 50% more expensive.
Unless rented in advance, finding accommodation can be complicated at the Meeting, with the offer of accommodation sometimes being saturated, although large. But you will find a place to stay between hotels, hostels, accommodation at home, bed and breakfast or camping. To tackle your stressless journey, we help you with the cities where to sleep at the Meeting.

The north includes the cities of Saint-Denis – the chief town of the department -, of Sainte-Suzanne, Saint-Paul, Saint-Benoît, Le Port, La Possession and Sainte-Marie. This is a large urban cord where most of the premises live and work: in Saint-Denis, the population is 146,985 inhabitants. In Saint-Denis, don’t miss admiring the typical Creole houses and the buildings of the Compagnie des Indes – the Villa Déramond-Barre for example - and then enter into the Museum Léon Dierx, the Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle and the State garden. Two markets will make your exotic and tropical shopping: the Grand Market (which collects local pei craft treasures) and the Petit Marché for fruits, vegetables and spices.
Define your best memories: embroidered fabrics, farm turtle jewelry, braided vacoa vannerie, bamboo objects, lava rock or fragrances with natural geranium essences, coconut products, various seeds, basalt, pearl, etc. In Sainte-Marie, give yourself a sports getaway by making canyoning at the Boeuf Basin in Piton Fougères. Go for the Niagara Waterfall in Sainte-Suzanne. A densely populated area where to stay at the Meeting, but you will not be bored.

The Meeting, bordered by heated waters throughout the year under 30°C, offers countless nautical activities and charming places to make Farniente . From Saint-Gilles to Saint-Pierre, a coral barrier protects crystalline waters in a lagoon at 27°C, an ideal spot where to make snorkeling , scuba diving, wholesale fishing, paddle, kite-surfing, or observe whales and dolphins. Careful: to protect itself from shark attacks, swimming is prohibited on the coast, with the exception of the lagoon and in the spaces provided for this purpose. Where to sleep in La Réunion? Around the meeting coastline if you love the sea, water sports and the shaded beach of coconut trees.

Pitons, circus, ramparts are the jewels of the Meeting. They have been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Natural Property List since 1 August 2010. At La Réunion, the mountain merges with the ocean and the tormented relief offers its guests a unique experience in the world: 40% of the spaces have remained almost intact since their emergence three million years ago. Don’t miss surveying the slopes of Piton des Neiges, the highest point of the Indian Ocean with 3,071 meters of altitude: a very beautiful objective of hiking in the middle of an incredibly preserved nature. Hiking starts from Plaine des Cafres or Cirque de Salazie, or from Cirque de Cilaos. In addition to the hospitality of the meeting, choose the south and the center where to stay at the Meeting if you like to mess up in the mountains.
