Swimming in the Giola Lagoon
On the Greek island of Thasos (Thassos), near the village of Astrís is this beautiful natural swimming pool called Giola Lagoon (or Lagon de Giola ).
Driven in the rocks by the sea and the waves over the centuries, the water is warmer than the sea, making the swimming very pleasant. You can sit by the lagoon and look at the Aegean Sea that stretches in front of your eyes.Source - imgur
The place is unknown and access is however difficult. Note that if you want to go there, there is no sand and you will need to put your beach towel to the rock. There is no shadow either, so think about putting sun cream.
How to go to Giula’s lagoon on Thassos Island?
Be careful, take note of all this because it is quite complicated to go there. First of all, here is exactly where the lagoon (GPS coordinates) is located, along the way to the city of Thassos.
The lagoon is therefore close to Asstrís. The detail to get there: coming from Limenaria To Atrís, roll until you reach the Aeria Hotel in Astrís. After 100 meters, you will see a sign indicating "Sirine Studios" (green ring, yellow writing) on your right. It is here that you have to turn, even if the road seems dirty or difficult. But a car can pass. Follow this path for about 2 or 3 kilometers, until you find a place among the trees to park your car. In this place you will see a stone house with a tile roof. From this place, you must walk straight to the sea. On both sides, you will see arrows painted on the stones, follow them. Soon you'll see the rocks with Giola's lagoon.
