From the museum to Figueras, to the castle of Púbol and its residence in Portlligat, enter the world of the famous painter.
Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) was a painter, sculptor, and Catalan writer. Known for his surrealist works, the artist created his own style by influencing scientific evolutions of his time. Dalí is a decayed character, his illustrious moustache is proof of it.

The museum of Figueras
First stop in the artist’s birthplace: Figueras . The Dalí theatre-museum includes many iconic works by Salvador Dalí. His tomb is also placed in his centre to pay tribute to him.
Some paintings, like this one, are demeasured. On the ceiling, Dalí drew himself with his wife from an original perspective. It addresses the theme of the different stages of life and destiny. Don’t hesitate to go there to contemplate his countless paintings.
The court of the museum is not in fact, since the artist’s works are also present. Statues overlook the windows of the façade.
The castle of Púbol
The castle of Púbol , another must-see place, allows you to discover the medieval home where Gala was able to rest and where Salvador Dalí has used an overflowing imagination. There is also the coffin of his muse and multiple cars in the courtyard.
The garden surrounding the castle has fountains, sculptures of all kinds and a large vegetation. This calm and natural environment allows you to relax. The pieces of the house are as original as the artist: there are many objects that belonged to him.
Chests of the composer Richard Wagner are located around this fountain. Dalí sees things great and does not hesitate to draw inspiration from different disciplines (writing, music, engraving).

Portlligat is a fishing village chosen by the painter to install his home. Not to be missed if you want to know Salvador Dalí. From his home, the sea view is unbeatable and we understand why the artist loves this place.
Inside, there are many rooms: library, workshop, living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom... all are decorated to the artist’s taste, making it a unique place to visit. His home reflects the surrealist ideas he could have during his life.
In the garden, very original works are present. The man made with wood and tiles, an egg on the roof, split skulls, and tires near the sumptuous swimming pool. These various examples show how much the artist has his own world.
