An overview of Deadvlei in the Sossusvlei salar
Deadvlei is like a cemetery for trees, and a place without life is pretty good.
Located in the heart of Namib-Naukluft National Park in Namibia, Deadvlei (or Dead Vlei, which means "the dead marsh" from English dead , death, and afrikaans vlei , lake or marsh) is surrounded by some of the highest sand dunes in the world, some of which peak at 400 metres above sea level. Those of "Big Daddy" or "Crazy Dune" overlook Deadvlei.
A river once brought water to Deadvlei, but when the climate changed, the river ran and Deadvlei became a Arid region A place without life since. Des tree skeletons burned by the sun always stand in the dehydrated land . Some plant species still grow, such as the Salsola shrubs and the Nara melon, but for the most part, Deadvlei is a sinisterly beautiful and deserted place that you must see to believe.
