L’ Europe undoubtedly houses the most beautiful villages in the world because of its many rural areas. From French towns to small villages nestled on hills all over Europe, we only retained 10. 10.Colmar, France

Actually speaking, Colmar is not a village but a city... The French and German influences mix in this well-preserved Alsatian "big village", where local bakers sell both croissants and kouglofs, and where restaurants specialize in foie gras and sauerkraut (chuckles). Colmar is the third largest municipality in Alsace. The city is renowned for its well preserved old town, its many architectural monuments and museums, including the Unterlinden Museum where is the Retable d’Issenheim .

The inhabitants of Telč used to be “war” to have the most beautiful façade of the house, as we can admire today on this large square with the elongated shape, where the buildings are all more beautiful than others. The city was founded in the 13th century at the same time as a castle, at the crossroads of commercial routes very frequented between Bohemia, Moravia and Austria.

Gruyères is a medieval village in the Gruyère district in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. The small town is a high tourist place in the upper valley of the Sarine river ( Saane ). Gruyères is of course famous for its cheese of the same name, whose sweet flavor melts so well in the fondue. A wide and paved street leads to the magnificent 13th century Château de Gruyères and its imposing fortifications, from which we have unbeatable views of the surrounding alpine foothills.

Folegandros is nestled at the edge of a cliff in the Cyclades. The island is of breathtaking beauty and has one of the most attractive villages (Chóra, or Folegandros) in the Greek archipelago (and Zeus knows they are all beautiful). His inhabitants were Doriens. Later, the island passed under Athenian domination. It was then conquered in 1207 by Venetian Marco Sanudo and remained under the domination of Venice until 1566, when it was taken by the Ottoman Turks. The Greeks recovered it in the 19th century.
