An Australian billionaire wants to build a replica of the Titanic, the opportunity to return to some anecdotes of the famous ship.
While one exact replica of the Titanic should see the day in 2018, Toolito proposes to (re)discover 25 surprising facts about the "insubmersible" boat. Between legend and truth, many surprising facts exist on the mythical ship that sank in 1912.
1. Only a month after the sinking, a film on the Titanic has been achieved . The main actress was a survivor of the drama.
2. The boat consumed 600 tons of coal a day. 176 men were responsible for continuously supplying ovens.
3. The interior decorations of the First Class were inspired by those of the Ritz Hotel in London. The boat had its own newspaper: “The Daily Bulletin of the Atlantic”.
4. There were 20,000 bottles of beer on board, 1500 bottles of wine and 8,000 cigars. All for First Class passengers.
5. The “Grand Escalier” is the most known decorative element of the Titanic. Made of beautiful woodwork made of finely cut oak and ornamented, it served all the first-class facilities. He had access to seven of the ten bridges of the ship. This staircase had a twin aboard the Olympic, a copy of the boat that had a long and brilliant career until 1934.
6. Only 16 wooden lifeboats and four inflatable boats were made for the Titanic. Enough to accommodate 1178 people, only one third of the total capacity of the Titanic (but more than the legal limit). Also, many canoes were not used at full capacity.

17. Only three dogs on the twelve who were on board survived the drama.

19. The most expensive cabins at the time would cost around 91,000 euros today.
20. The Titanic was designed to float even with four of its sixteen flooded compartments. Unfortunately, the fifth and sixth compartments were flooded during the disaster, causing its sinking.
21. The Titanic took two hours and forty minutes to sink.
22. A rescue exercise with the canoes was planned the day before the drama but was finally cancelled.
23. None of the 13 engineers survived. They stayed on the boat to allow a maximum of people to leave the ship.
