A wave-shaped rock is located near Perth, Australia
Wave Rock is an interesting natural rock formation located east of the small town of Hyden in Western Australia (Western Australia, WA), 340 kilometers from Perth. This rock derives its name from the fact that it looks like a giant wave of the ocean about to break. The Wave Rock is composed of granite and measures 15 meters high and 110 meters long.
It should be noted that the shape of the rock is not due to a phenomenon of ondulation, i.e. wave, but rather to the slow erosion of the granite by wind and water, although it began in the basement. The rock would have been formed between 2700 million and 60 million years before.
One thing less photographed by tourists is the wall that was built above the rock. This wall of 50 centimeters high allows to harvest the rain water that flows to a dam located below. It was built in 1951 by the Public Works Department and is part of many others in the Wheatbelt region.
The Wave Rock is one of the best things to see in the vicinity of Perth .
The Wave Rock is for some people the opportunity to take beautiful unusual photos but also to have fun climbing the famous rock, on foot, or going down by bike.
