António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro, nicknamed Monteiro the millionaire for his immense fortune, acquired the property in 1892. This Brazilian scientist and naturalist born of Portuguese parents visits Luigi Manini to build a palace and draw a garden. The famous Italian architect, creator of the magnificent Buçaco Palace, will create this magical place that became the Palace of Regaleira.
