It is a preserved natural site listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, both very tourist and wild, where you can swim, camp, stroll, hike, excite yourself from the wonders of nature in the midst of donkeys, olive trees, almond trees, fig trees, and a flagship animation of the site: a community of Berber macaques living in freedom.

What to see and do at the Cascades of Uzbekistan?

From the water flowing from the top of a cliff, and coming to crash 110 meters below: and not, we are not at the falls of Igazu in Argentina/Brazil, but in Morocco. The Cascades of Ouzoud allow you to admire a series of panoramas on the waterfall in the middle of the olive trees, and cross a few Berber monkeys and macaques. From Marrakech, you have to count about 3 or 4 hours of journey through many paths. The journey is rather long but it nevertheless allows to see the Moroccan countryside with its ochre lands, olive trees and almond trees. A guide can take charge of the visit on arrival for some dirhams.

The visitor can recover when arriving in one of the many establishments surrounding the site, the opportunity for example to taste Moroccan cuisine. The descent to the foot of the waterfalls is made by a path that can appear steeped in places – if you are not accustomed to walking – with olive trees.

Down below, the river allows to swim and picnic. But of course, the closer you will to the bottom of the falls, the more the noise promises to be assuring. A boat ride will surely be offered to pass on the other side of the oued, the premises taking advantage of the tourist places to earn a little money! A wooden bridge allows you to cross the river dryly, to go hiking and burying in nature. The sources of Ouzoud, for example, are 6 kilometres away, where you will see olive trees with a loss of sight, an oil press and a generous nature. Some wheat mills are still in service today.

Near the waterfalls, there are several cafes and restaurants, as well as hotels where to stay. A minibus leaves at the end of the afternoon to reach Marrakech.

Good to know: The site is partially accessible to people with reduced mobility.

How to go to the Cascades of Uzbekistan?

To visit the Cascades of Uzbekistan from Marrakech, you can visit take a bus for the city of Azilal from the Bab Doukkala bus station in MArrakech. The journey takes about 4 hours. A collective taxi makes it possible to rally the cascades in about 35 minutes.

It is also possible to rent a car from Marrakech to go autonomously, but it must be stated that driving to Morocco, especially in large cities, is not easy. The traffic in Morocco would pass motorists in Sicily for casual and civic drivers!

Think about taking good walking shoes, a hat, sun cream, a camera and a bathing suit.

You can visit the Casacades of Uzbekistan every day from 9am to 7pm . To make the most of the visit, it is advisable to come early in the morning or at the end of the afternoon!

The entrance to the waterfalls of Uzbekistan is free and the visit can be made every day of the week, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. But as it’s easier to get there, it’s better to go by a tour organizer to be taken care of at the hotel for the whole trip.
