Côte d’Azur and Provence are two beautiful regions, with magical places and discoveries not to end. Whether on the beach, in the middle of nature, in the mountains, in small villages or even by train, there are for all tastes. Nice is a perfect starting point to make these excursions with a high quality road or rail network. Wanderlix was limited to the ones at 1h30 of maximum road and one can do in one day. 1. Eze

Coming to Eze, we believe in another world. This is village village Perched is certainly the most beautiful in the region. Walking through its paved streets, we are carried away by the beauty of the buildings around us. The desire to stop everywhere is tempting because every corner is different from the previous one.

The highlight of the show is the magnificent view of the Great Blue from the citadel. After a good lunch, you go to the path of Nietzsche, a hike made famous by the philosopher who loved this path. Finally, if time allows, you can visit the Fragonard perfumery. In short, a walk around Nice that we love!

Another beautiful seaside town, Antibes is a step not to be missed and a nice visit around Nice for a day. The old town plunges us a century back with its billboards, shops and alleys. If envy takes you, you can discover an original bar with absinthe in cellars sometimes ten centuries old!

On leaving the old town, one can fall on the amazing free commune of the Safranier, which has been operating in part since 1966, and offering very photogenic little streets. Also the Picasso Museum, located in the former Grimaldi Castle, exhibits nearly 250 works by the artist. Finally, if you are with children, the Marineland water park will be their time of escape!

Here's a walk around particular Nice! The train des Pignes is transporting you to Digne-les-Bains in the backcountry of the country, crossing a splendid landscape. The stops are numerous and you choose those who interest you or you can go directly to Digne.

Among the interesting places: Barrême and its distillery museum, Saint-André-les-Alpes and the possibility to make paragliding, Annot and its hiking paths, Entrevaux and its medieval city.

4. Train des Merveilles

There are many opportunities to return by train until evening. For this visit around Nice, you stay in the rail with the train des Merveilles, famous for its breathtaking landscapes in the mountain and the presence of a lecturer on board to comment the places.

Once you arrive in Tende, don’t hesitate to visit the old town of the village, a unique town because of its location on a hillside.

Although Nice is not famous for its vineyards, it is not to mention the Château du Bellet, a unique wine estate perched on the heights. With its chapel and ten hectares of vine surrounding it, the place is magical and a walk around original Nice. On the programme: guided tour of the estate and the chapel, survey the vineyards and of course wine tasting.

For this visit around Nice, we leave France for a few hours. The State City Monaco is one of the most popular excursions in the region. We start by taking the height by visiting the Rocher, the historical district, with its small streets and old houses, without forgetting the magnificent view of the Mediterranean.

At the foot you can visit Oceanographic Museum , a giant aquarium that descends up to 85 meters under the sea! Then go to the Monte-Carlo district with its casino, hotels, opera and, for connoisseurs, the streets where the famous Grand-prix de Formula 1. Finally, the exotic garden, top botanical garden, is the ideal place to finish this day.

For this visit around Nice, we would believe in Amalfi . It must be said that with its architecture and lemon festival, Menton has points in common with the Italian city. The old town is a pleasure of the eyes for those who lose themselves in its shaded alleys and jaunies by the stone. Menton is also the city of so-called exceptional gardens, where botany of excellence is accessible to all.

If you arrive in the morning, go to the Halles market, one of the most famous in the region. For those who love Jean Cocteau, his museum is an obligatory passage. Finally, you can finish the day at the beach!

The filmmakers, this visit around Nice is made for you! Of course we speak of Cannes, the city of the festival has been there every year since 1946. It is possible to visit Palais des Festivals where the ceremony takes place. Right next door, you can walk on the old port and the Croisette then go to the beach.

From the sea, we discover the Suquet, the old town of Cannes on a hill. In a maze of small paved alleys, you like to get lost and stroll in front of the shops. Finally, for those who have time and envy, it is possible to go to the island of Sainte-Marguerite with its museum of the sea and its sublime beaches.

If you particularly like perfume, this walk around Nice is a must! It is in Grasse that the International Museum of Perfumery traces the history of the perfume of Antiquity to the present day and explains its manufacturing stages. There are also other interesting museums, including some perfumeries.

In Grasse, we love walking in the old town, with its paved and lean streets, terraces and market. A historic centre with classic Provençal but that we love.

Saint-Paul-de-Vence is a beautiful medieval village at the foot of the mountains. Its old town is beautiful with stone houses, religious buildings and fountain. We love to climb up to the ramparts with, as a reward, a superb sea view! After so much effort, the comfort on the terrace is as welcome.

The town is also famous for its Maeght foundation, a modern art museum founded, among other things, by Chagall who is buried in the village. Finally, 30 minutes from a beautiful road, we find the cascades Saut-du-Loup for a short stop and finish this walk around Nice.

11. Saint-Tropez

We no longer present St-Trop’ and its jet set. However, it is often forgotten that the town has a cute old centre and an imposing citadel with stunning sea views. For De Funès fans, the Gendarmerie Museum is your fetish! For others, the Musée de l’Annonciade, with its paintings of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, is not to be missed.

Those who have time, take the road to the wonderful beach of Pampelonne, 10 minutes to sting a head and admire this turquoise color.

This walk around Nice is far away but the place is so magical that we can’t ignore it. Take the road to the Sublime Point, an hors d’oeuvre with a sublime panorama. Then continue to the Galetas Bridge, the entrance into matter with this view on the water of a pure blue.

For the resistance dish, you descend to Lac de Sainte-Croix to rest or do activities like pedalo. Finally, if you have room for dessert, do some hiking around the lake before returning to Nice.

Vintimille is a visit around Nice appreciated for its Roman ruins and its old town. Its market on Friday, a little crazy, is the central activity of the week of the city. Not to be missed if you are there.

Walking in the alleys La Pigna , the old town of Sanremo, we are actually transporting in time. Every corner has a little magic and you like to feel the atmosphere of the place. Then, take a walk on the port and then go to the shopping street, the Via Matteotti . Take a look at the Russian Orthodox Church, which takes us a few minutes to Moscow!
