What is TravelCar?
L’aventure TravelCar Begins in late 2012 when Ahmed Mhiri launches his site after finding his insurance partner, the MAIF. Its purpose is to allow travellers to deposit their car in a secure car park without having to pay the parking lot as it will be rented during their absence to other drivers.
In July 2014, the car-sharing platform launched a first fund raising of €750,000 from Network Finance. It allows the company to develop its services and become a true specialist of the Airport parking . Users can now enjoy free parking, allowing their vehicle to be rented while travelling, but also rent a particular vehicle or book a pay parking space. Today, the platform is present in several countries in Europe and outside Europe, such as the United States.

TravelCar offers three main services:
- The parking fee: the booking of paid parking spaces
- Free parking: thanks to the availability of the vehicle
- Rental of a particular vehicle
Book a parking space with TravelCar
To book a pay parking space, you must go to the dedicated section Parking Airports then See all our parking spaces . You only have to indicate the place of parking, then the desired dates and times.
A counter indicates the number of parking spaces available for this starting point. You will also have access to an interactive map and a list of available car parks, classified at the cheapest.
Once the car park is selected, you are redirected to a new tab where additional information, reviews and a supplementary map is available. After clicking on it button book , you will need to indicate your first name, name, email address and phone, and then you will be able to confirm your reservation before making the payment. You frequently have amount payable online for the reservation then a additional payment to be made on site .
Free parking space with TravelCar
How does the free parking work? It’s simple: you’re making your car available for a particular rental. If it is rented during your absence, you can receive compensation according to the kilometres travelled. If it is not rented, the parking lot is still free! The service includes all risk insurance for owners and rental is managed from A to Z by TravelCar.
To get this service, just go in the section target= »_blank » emergingParking gratuit then perform a search as to book a paid parking. If the free parking is available for your departure dates and location, you will be offered first in the list. You will only have to book for free and then fill out a form including the model of your vehicle for free parking.
Attention : if there are no more places in free parking, the site will only show you paid parking.
Rent a car with TravelCar
To book a vehicle, just go to the dedicated section. You must then choose the desired starting point, departure dates and arrival times.
As with car parks, a meter shows you the number of vehicles available for your dates and location. An interactive map is also displayed and you have the opportunity to view the list of available vehicles, classified at the cheapest.
Once the vehicle is selected, another tab will open. You then have more information about the vehicle as well as instructions. After clicking on it button book , you will need to complete various general information about the main driver. Several Additional options (paying) you are offered as cancellation insurance or any risk. We advise you to subscribe to this last formula to have complete protection. Once the options are validated (or not), you only have to validate the reservation for payment.

- Long reimbursement periods, even non-refunds when using the “free parking” option (degradations, breaches, etc.)
- Cancellation at last minute of renting between individuals generating significant parking costs
TravelCar: Editor’s Opinion
TravelCar wipes out the criticisms of dissatisfied customers who have been confronted with non-refunds or long delays as a result of degradation, contraventions and other cleaning costs after renting their vehicles to individuals (free parking option).
The renting among individuals, if it offers favourable rates, presents a major risk: if the owner cancels his trip at the last moment, you lose your reservation. You may thus pay the high price from a professional rental to replace this lost reservation. There are also risks related, not to TravelCar, but to its partners (pay parking) who can change their conditions at the last minute.
However, TravelCar is an excellent solution to book a room in a paid parking lot or rent a particular vehicle at a low price. Its interactive map allows you to easily view the options available. The site includes numerous indications, instructions and information about paid or free parking available. In the case of free parking, many users have had no problems and are satisfied with the service. As a parking specialist, TravelCar offers excellent mobility solutions and it would be a shame not to test them, or at least to consider them.
