The largest airport in Austria, the Vienna-Schwechat airport, the Austrian Airlines base, is 18 kilometres south-east of Vienna, in the village of Schwechat. 23.3 million passengers landed there and 6 million people transited there every year. It has four terminals and several hundred airlines. Here is how to make your transfer between the airport and the city centre of Vienna.

City Airport Train (CAT)
This route allows you to get to the city centre in 16 minutes: this is the fastest solution to make your trip transfer between the airport and the city centre of Vienna . The train serves the Wien-Mitte Central Station. Follow the green signs "CAT" to find the dock: the trains, comfortable and modern, circulate every day from 6h09 to 23h39, every 30 minutes. In the sense of Wien Mitte at the airport, trains run daily from 5h37 to 23h07 every 30 minutes. The simple way to go costs 12 € per person and the return trip is €21. Please note that the journey for minors under the age of 15 is free. If you know the time and day of the return flight, it is therefore more advantageous to choose a return ticket. Tickets can be purchased online in advance or directly in the CAT terminal.
The Railjet ÖBB
It is the Austrian train, the equivalent of the SNCF, which continuously connects the Vienna-Schwechat airport to the Vienna Main Station (U1), as well as to the Vienna Meidling Station (U6). The journey takes about 30 minutes, and there is a departure every 30 minutes. From Vienna Airport to Main Station and Vienna Meidling Station, trains operate daily from 6:33 am to 11:03 pm. In the opposite direction, the schedules are as follows:
- Every day of Vienna Meidling from 5h34 to 10h,
- Every day of the Vienna Main Station from 5h42 to 10h12.
The adult ticket costs 4,20 € , the ticket for children aged 6 to 14 is €2.10 and minors under 6 travel free of charge.
Urban train S7
The S7 train is the Paris RER of the RATP: it allows to transfer between the airport and the city centre of Vienna every 40 minutes, for 25 minutes to 30 minutes of transport. The line serves the stations of downtown, Wien Mitte and Praterstern. The schedules are as follows:
- From the airport to the city centre: every day from 5:18 to 00:18,
- From Praterstern to the airport: every day from 4:15 to 23:45,
- From Wien Mitte to the airport: every day from 4h19 to 11h49.
The cost of tickets:
- Adults: 4,20 €,
- Children and young people from 6 to 14 years old: 2,10 €
- Children under 6 years old: free.
Bus transfer
Transferring between the airport and the city centre of Vienna by bus is the cheapest solution: € 8 for single adult travel, 13 € return ticket . From 6 to 14 years old, the ticket is 4 € (one way) and 8 € (return), free for under 6 years. Vienna Airport Lines buses serve the city centre, the Donauzentrum shopping centre, the exhibition centre, the west station or the main station. Three lines allow you to travel:
- Val 1: Vienna airport, main station, west station in 40 minutes, from 6 am to 00:30 every 30 minutes
- Val 1 : from 5h30 to 00h30 in reverse direction
- Val 2: Vienna airport in Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz from 4h45 to 1h15, from 4h to 23h30 in return direction
