Have you ever dreamed of taking a selfie with the Pisa Tower and you finally took your tickets? Here is a complete guide to the various means of transport for a transfer from Galileo-Galilei Airport.
The first airport in Tuscany, Galileo-Galilei Airport, which refers to Galileo, famous physicist born in Pisa, is located 1km from Pisa. So to easily get to the city center, here are all the tips and different transport options for a successful transfer from Galileo-Galilei Airport.
Bus transfer
If you have a small budget, the bus is probably the best option, especially since the route is fairly short since it lasts between 10 and 15 minutes. For departure, go across the airport with a shuttle that leaves every quarter of an hour. To go to the center of Pisa, take the red line (LAM Rosso) towards Jacobo and you can go down to Piazza dei Miracoli or to the central station of Pisa.
To purchase your ticket, you can take it to the distributors at the bus stop. But if you’re unfamiliar with Italian, go instead to buy it at the information desk in the airport arrival hall where you should find an agent who speaks French or English. For the price, count 1.10€ for a single go. If you miss time, prefer to take another bus instead of jumping into the first shuttle without a ticket while thinking about buying it on site: it costs double. Another small detail: single tickets are valid only for 30 minutes.

Train transfer
The main advantage of Pisa Airport is that it owns its own station. So you can easily get to the central station in 5 minutes but also in other cities of Tuscany. The shuttle to take is called the Pisa Mover which circulates 365 days a year, from 6 a.m. to midnight. The price of this shuttle is €2.70 per trip and €5.40 per round trip. The ticket is valid 30 days after its date of issuance.
Join the centre of Pisa on foot
Probably not the most convenient solution if you have a lot of luggage, but on the other hand if you are travelling lightly and you have the chance to have some sun rays, don’t hesitate to walk to Pisa. Indeed, Galileo-Galilei Airport is not very far from the city centre and in 20-25 minutes walking, you should get to good port.

For luggage, it is an extra charge of €0.60 per suitcase and for skis and other bulky items, it is €1.10.
Before taking your taxi, you are advised to ask your driver for the price again: some take advantage of it to swell the note then be vigilant.
