This optimal road trip would be ideal for discovering Europe

An American blogger created what he calls the “Effective Road Trip” in Europe

45 European cities. 14 days of driving and several months of visits. Here is the optimized road trip created by an algorithm set up by an American blogger. The latter, Randal Olson, specializes in data visualization and published an article titled “ Calculation of the optimal road trip across Europe” .

Europe is a huge continent with a varied mix of cultures, so it has not been able to personally list the places to visit. However, he has taken up an article from the Business Insider dated July 2014 in which we find them "50 places to visit absolutely in Europe in your life" . Each stopover seemed, according to Randal Olson, a beautiful mix of urban exploration and outdoor fun through an eclectic selection of countries. He then took over the various places (removing the inaccessible places by car), to set up this epic road trip across Europe. According to him, it will be necessary to add a few steps between Poland and Estonia that are underrepresented here.

This gives a journey through 45 cities, 29 countries, 2 cities-states and some 26 211 kilometers of road. Certainly, the route to Google Maps indicates that it takes 14 days of driving, but unless you are tireless and you do not stop to make gasoline, sleep and eat, the American advises you "at least three months" to achieve this exceptional road trip. He recorded the journey on one interactive map :

What about the precise route of this road trip? From Paris, head to Belgium and the United Kingdom to discover the Stonehenge and Cornwalls before heading to the Moher cliffs in Ireland and then take a tour in Scotland. Afterwards, Belgium is going to cross the Netherlands and reach Berlin for a crazy evening, then the calm of Scandinavian lands. After a long trip to Norway, Sweden and Finland, the Estonia-Latvia-Lithuania Baltic trio, as Randal Orson advised.

This is when you will attack Eastern Europe starting with Krakow in Poland. Think from time to time to complete, check the level of oil and tire pressure because the road is still long, and it would be foolish to miss it. The South of Europe offers you with the discovery of cities such as Istanbul, the Greek islands and the island of Malta. It then goes back to Italy to Germany, with a detour by Croatia to go to Barcelona and follow the Mediterranean coast to the South of Portugal. The big road trip then ends by where it started in Paris.

Of course, you will miss very beautiful things in Europe despite this great tour, but it is only an idea. It is up to you to adapt it to your way. To achieve this road trip, Randal Olson has returned the data into an algorithm that he himself designed, in order to minimize the time of journey between each stage, with the precise aim of optimizing the cultural experience. If you touch coding, you should know that the blogger has made available its algorithm in order to allow everyone to alter it as he wishes.

By the same process, it had calculated similar road trip elsewhere in the world, as in United States , in South America or through Michigan , where he is from.

What do you think of this "optimized" Road Trip to discover Europe?
