1. We Go GreenR

The We Go GreenR platform was created to address the lack of visibility of eco-responsible accommodations and tourist ecolabels. Marie-Pierre and Stéphane Vincent, its founders, gave birth to the start-up in 2020. It brings together one of the largest communities of responsible hosts in France with over 1000 accommodations.

We Go GreenR is based on a 100 criteria index called “GreenScore”. It takes into account the host’s efforts to reduce its emissions and consumption of natural resources. The user can, in real time, know the ecological quality of his foot-to-ground... and make the right choice in a future rental. Ingenious, right?

2. Voy’Agir

Founded in 2016 by Marine de Beaufort and Mathieu Chevalier, Voy’Agir is a reference among the platforms to book eco-friendly accommodation. It allows to share its addresses and good plans: activities, accommodations, leisure ideas... It also develops solutions for public and private organizations that want to be part of an environmental approach.

Totally free for users, it helps them reduce their ecological impact in just a few clicks. By allowing partner institutions to increase their visibility on the internet, Voy’Agir is a source of tourism information of the most relevant. This collaborative platform has thousands of members: it is up to you to be part of it.

3. La Via Natura

La Via Natura is one of the leaders of booking eco-friendly stays at the campsite. The listed establishments are disseminated throughout the hexagonal territory. The most beautiful regions are represented in the tourist offer: Alps, Pyrenees, Brittany, Vosges, Drôme, Périgord, Burgundy...

Since 2018, it has been connecting travellers who are interested in their environmental impact with hosts who share this approach.

Bed & breakfasts, hotels, campsites, lodgings and unusual accommodation are evaluated by an eco-score covering five criteria: infrastructure quality, energy expenditure, waste generation, food and eco-friendly advice sharing. The user can make his choice in his soul and ecological consciousness.

5. TripforTrees

TripforTrees is intended to select the housing and activities most engaged in environmental protection. Very simple to use, free of charge, the interface is one of the most relevant to the market. The offer of each of the lodges and shelters presented is precisely detailed on this platform to book eco-friendly accommodation.

The company has developed a Treescore from a minimum environmental impact (note 1) to a maximum impact (note 5). In addition, she is committed to remitting some of the money spent to an NGO working for the good of the planet and men. A good holiday to good deeds, there is only one step.

6. Ethik Hotels

Ethik Hotels is a community-based reference platform for ecological tourism professionals. This is not a booking website: there is no intermediary between you and the hotel. 7. Solikend

Solikend is a company that has received the ESUS approval “Social utility company”. It is certainly one of the best platforms to book eco-friendly accommodation. Its operation is indeed innovative and even disruptive: hotels provide solidarity nights.

When booking, you choose a partner association. Your payment is then fully donated to the association of your choice! These hotels benefit in exchange for high commercial visibility which constitutes a virtuous circle. labeled “Clé Verte” or “Ecolabel Européen”, they are the guarantors of a dream stay that is environmentally friendly.

Another great initiative to salute: this cooperative reservation platform offers more than a hundred different accommodations. It also has a reference database corresponding to all facets of responsible tourism. Leisure, local producers, natural sites, hosts, artistic collectives...

From the interface, travellers can choose accommodations, routes and activities by theme or location. They can compose their stay from offers divided into five categories. Accommodation solutions are varied: guest rooms, youth hostels, hotels or private residences. You just have to choose.

9. GreenGo

GreenGo is about 1,200 homes and 580 registered guests. This platform to book eco-responsible accommodation conveniently at very low rates. It takes twice as many commissions as elsewhere: 8.33 per cent. Hosts are committed to a charter of adherence to the values of sustainable development.

Nearly 80 criteria are reviewed by GreenGo to assess proposed offers. A measure of the carbon footprint per night is included and available to users and hosts. The former can control the environmental impact of their stay. The latter, decrease this: useful and positive, right?

10. Fairbooking

Fairbooking coche decidedly all the boxes: a French brand, associative, non-profit, created and managed by the hoteliers themselves. They benefit from the same visibility among individuals. Created in 2013, Fairbooking reinvented itself in 2021: now equipped with a new visual identity, this platform to book eco-responsible accommodation is able to compete with the mastodones in the sector.

This ethical alternative is supported by CCI Nantes St-Nazaire and the Conseil Départemental de Loire-Atlantique. Yes: Fairbooking is serious.

11. Green Trip

GreenTrip is a start-up created in September 2020 by three winners of a tourism competition. His purpose? Participate in the development of sustainable tourism by highlighting virtuous French accommodations. The accommodation presented must meet at least ten criteria of a demanding charter. Hosts are able to establish partnerships with local producers from organic farming.

GreenTrip is currently in full development and looks like a future leader in the green booking market. We appreciate the quality of the dedicated search engine and the relevance of the displayed results. Like you, probably.

12. Tookki

Tookki allows access to clean activities, solidarity shops, organic restaurants and green accommodation. There are already more than 300 places listed on Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux and Marseille. The other French cities gradually join the movement. The special interest of the concept is to be based on a “city guide” application.

Tookki is available on iOS and Android systems since June 2018. The selection criteria are specific: companies must, for example, work with local suppliers, demonstrate their willingness to limit their waste, market fair trade products or have a solidarity dimension. 13. Fairbnb

Fairbnb is a booking platform created in 2018 by a community from five European cities. Amsterdam, Barcelona, Bologna, Valencia and Venice have put in place this housing search solution to counter the negative effects of mass tourism.

Fairbnb is a model of the circular economy: in fact, it can become a cooperative. It involves some of its benefits in social and local projects. The policy of the single host is imperatively practiced: a person can only rent one dwelling during his stay. The goal? Limit gentrification in large cities, which partly stems from the multiplicity of rental offers.

14. FeelinGo

Here Feelingo, a platform to book eco-friendly and sustainable accommodation. More than 1,300 hotels are listed in France, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Italy and Greece. Launched in September 2020, it established partnerships with associations and companies engaged in environmental protection.

Plastic Odyssey and Reforest’Action participate in education and social innovation by directly fighting against the deleterious effects of pollution.
