Through an aquatic path, dug by water in the rock, you descend a river as a reminder, using natural slides or sometimes jumping several meters high. If the canyoning appears at first glance, the activity is however accessible at all levels and from 6 years.

With nearly 157 canyons listed, the Languedoc Roussillon is a region of choice for lovers of this activity. Just a few hours away from Montpellier, there are many routes that will delight both small and large.

1. The Tayrac Canyon

A few steps from the Hérault seaside resorts, the Canyon de Tayrac offers an ideal site for a first practice of canyoning. At about 1h20 from Montpellier, it offers an alternating natural slides, floating (leave into the waters) and jumps from 2 to 8 meters high. It takes about three hours to complete it. But the game is worth it!

Note that all obstacles are avoidable if you wish.

2. The Devil Canyon

Located 25km from Montpellier, more exactly Saint Guilhem the Desert The Devil Canyon is the closest and favorite of families. Indeed, its location makes it an easy access site and its course has everything to treat the little ones and the great ones.

Jumps, tobbogans, zip lines, under a waterfall and floating. The site offers a perfect opportunity to learn about this outdoor activity and especially to taste it.

3. Le Canyon de l’Albès

At 1h20 from Montpellier, the Canyon of the Albès is certainly one of the most beautiful in the region. You will be charmed by its wild decor and waterfalls up to 30 meters high.

However, the route is difficult with many descents in reminder. So it is better to have some notions of canyoning to venture into it.

4. The Grand Rec Canyon

In the heart of Massif du Caroux , this little canyon will seduce you by its wild beauty and its course junched with natural slides dug into the rock. The Grand Rec is particularly well suited to family canyoning, with the program of reminders, slips and jumps up to 7 meters high.

You can reach him in just 1 hour from Montpellier.

5. The Canyon of Vialais

Located in the Haut Languedoc Regional Park, 1h15 from Montpellier, Vialais Canyon is known as a sports course. Therefore it is advisable to people who already know canyoning. Indeed the site trains you for 2 hours between slides, reminders and especially a wide variety of jumps, up to 8 meters high.

Please note also a recall descent of 20 meters. Those who love strong sensations will be delighted!

6. Orgon Canyon

Located in the Aigoual massif, the Canyon d’Orgon also appears as a must in the region. It is certainly his exceptional setting, in the midst of the cascades that bear his name, which earned him this fame. It takes between 4 to 5 hours to reach the end of this journey.

The Orgon Canyon is well suited to a day of canyoning with friends or family. It will also appeal to the highest sporting stunts that reach 30 meters high.

7. Rieutort Canyon

The Rieutort Canyon is located in the heart of the Cevennes National Park. Embark for about 4 hours of trails to discover the wild nature. Between reminders and giant slides, this canyoning course will make your happiness whether you are small or large.

The site is accessible to all, allowing the uninitiated to fully enjoy the joys of this activity. Cherry on the cake, the Canyon of Rieutort offers a superb decor to these visitors.

8. The Tapoul Canyon

I'll give you a little advice. Also known as the wonder of the Aigoual, the Tapoul Canyon better suited to the regulars of canyoning. The course is indeed quite sporty and requires some notions of discipline.

However, you can choose to bypass some obstacles if you wish. The course is planted in a forest setting that gives it a particular atmosphere.

9. The Canyon of the Upper Tarn

Refresh yourself in the waters of the Tarn in Lozère, through an easy and playful journey. The Upper Tarn Canyon offers a great opportunity to indulge in canyoning with ease.

Located in the commune of Terms , this Canyon offers an ideal option for a first experience and especially for the exercise of the recall descent. The unique feature of the Terminet Clue Canyon is the beauty of its environment and the course dug into pink marble.

Not athletic, this Canyon still includes many obstacles, making it an ideal playground for followers and novices.
