The 10 most photographed places in the world

What are the places where travellers take the most photos?

In your opinion, what is the most photographed place on Earth? Is it one of the most visited monuments ? Or one of the most famous places (Tour Eiffel, Statue de la liberté, London Bridge ...)? The site Sightsmap recently used data from a photo sharing application optimized by Google to calculate the most “captured” locations, to the precise monument. Here's the Top 10:

10. Saint-Etienne Basilica, Budapest

Like many European capitals, Budapest has many religious buildings. Saint-Etienne Basilica, which was named in honour of the 1st Hungarian king Étienne is a true jewel of the Danube Pearl . However, it is only the third largest church in Budapest.

9. Caminito Street, Buenos Aires

Located in the beautiful (but tourist) neighborhood of La Boca in Buenos Aires , paved street Caminito ("little path" in Spanish) is lined with brightly coloured buildings in front of which artists sell engravings and paintings in kiosks. The colourful fronts were inspired by tango culture and football teams. This is the ideal place to drink a cerveza and watching fútbol .

8. Piazzale Michelangelo, Florence

Italy begins here its domination of the most photographed sites (yes, there are still to come) with the Piazzale Michelangelo (the Michelangelo esplanade) by Florence , which is not actually photographed in itself. Instead, its high location allows tourists to avoid buying a postcard by taking pictures of professional quality panoramas from the ideal point of view overlooking the Tuscan city.

7. Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, Monaco

Ideal for torchlighters, Monte Carlo is the incredibly rich neighborhood of the incredibly small Principality of Monaco, which borders an incredibly blue Mediterranean sea. The Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo is one of the many luxury hotels in Monaco, but its reputation can be attributed, in part, to its appearance in the James Bond GoldenEye film.

6. Ponte dell’Accademia, Venice

Venice always returns to the rankings of the most beautiful cities, we know. But his bridges have something really beautiful. The Ponte dell’Accademia (Pont de l’Académie) is one of the four bridges that cross the Grand Canal de Venice , and for any reason tourists like to take it in photo. Love, in fact, can actually have a connection to this: couples attach a padlock to symbolize their unwavering affection.

5. Tour de Léandre, Istanbul

At the southern entrance of the Bosphorus Strait Istanbul , you can see European and Asian continents meet. The Tour de Léandre is a picturesque little tower built on a small island on the Strait.

The city of Paris a lot to offer to the traveller equipped with good camera : the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Élysées, the Arc de Triomphe, Notre-Dame Cathedral... But the most photographed monument in the capital is the Moulin Rouge. Even if there is absolutely no chance that Nicole Kidman appears in a black lace locker.

3. Parc Güell, Barcelona

Historic landmark designed by the famous architect Antoni Gaudí, the Parc Güell in Barcelona and its fancy buildings are one of the largest architectural sites in southern Europe, and all the surrounding staircases and views make it easy to photograph.

The Italian capital is the second most photographed place in the world, according to Google. Among the hundreds of religious buildings scattered throughout Rome , the one that most often appears on tourist clichés is the Trinità dei Monti (the Church and Abbey of the Trinity-des-Monts), a Renaissance church built on a former vineyard.

1. Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York

Surprisingly, the most photogenic monument in the world is not the Statue of Liberty or the Empire State Building, but the Guggenheim Museum in New York .

Strange this ranking, I would have said completely differently... It is Google says Well... my opinion is that this ranking only takes into account the photos that people have put online via the app... but is it representative of all the tourists? I don't think so.
