With an altitude of 2,350 metres, the Tournette chain is the highest peak of the Bornes massif. It separates Lake Annecy from the Thônes depression, offering a spectacular view of the surrounding area. It is the emblematic summit of the city of Annecy, the one to climb to overlook this part of the Haute-Savoie Alps.

1. La Tournette via the path of the Col de l’Aulp

This hike to the Tournette is one of the most famous in the Bornes massif! It starts at the parking lot of the Prés Ronds, but you also have the possibility to pull to the Chalet de l’Aulp by car to shorten it.

Very quickly, the trail climbs. On some passages, you'll have to use your hands! Scales and cables will help you climb to Le Armchair, the famous rock culminating. The difficulty is at the rendezvous but the game is worth the candle. On the other hand, wait to cross the world and wait for some strategic passages.

The views of Lake Annecy, the Bay of Talloires, the Gorges du Fier and the Semnoz Summit are breathtaking.

Keep a little energy for the return, your knees will be mobilised.

2. The Tournette from Montmin

Go to the pretty village of Montmin, in Talloires, to start this hike at the Tournette. If the trail is reserved for good walkers, it does not have any particular difficulty.

From the start, you will have to face steep climbs. The landscape is wild and bucolic. Once on the ridge, the top of the Tournette is not far. The bravest can borrow scales and chains to go even higher and enjoy the panorama. The view of Annecy and Mont Blanc is amazing when the sky is clear. To put all the chances on your side, we advise you to leave early in the morning. In addition to enjoying the view, you will have the opportunity to meet ubiquitous and other inhabitants of the region!

You will understand, this hike at the Tournette is sporty. Provide water and good shoes. Especially, avoid borrowing it after the rain. The mud can make the path dangerous.

3. The Tournette from Belchamp

To take this hike to the Tournette, park in the parking lot of Belchamp. The first section of the trail leads you to the Rosairy refuge, commonly known as the Rosairy chalet. After passing through pastures, you reach a little collar that brings you to the famous Armchair.

Again, this hike at the Tournette is reserved for seasoned hikers. The trail is not very frequented on this section, yet the panorama at the top is breathtaking.

Provide good walking shoes and at least 2 liters of water. For security reasons – but also to enjoy a clear view of Annecy and the Alps – we advise you to embark on the adventure between May and October.
