You will only have the embarrassment of choice with hikes from the south of Corsica! From the famous GR20 in the mountains to the small seaside path, the island of Beauty treats hikers of all levels in its southern part.
There are few other islands where the mountain gets married to the sea as well as here, and the best way for you to enjoy it remains to hike in the south of Corsica, again and again!
A very popular destination for walkers, the trails are well maintained and enjoy a good frequentation, from the start of the hike season: in April for the early ones, with a little snow that covers the tops, in May when spring explodes, or back-season from September. These are the perfect moments to hike in South Corsica.
In the middle of the summer, beware of the big heats, plan water and walk in the shade as much as possible, or stay on the paths along the Mediterranean: from rando to swim, there is often only one step in South Corsica!
1. The tower of Bavella

We start with this beautiful hike from the south of Corsica, around a site where nature has carved its work since the night of time: the combined erosion of the rain and wind hollows the rock and the size to create these spectacular, and dizzy needles.
The breathtaking views are followed throughout the Tour des Aiguilles de Bavella, a route among the most popular of all Corsica... Attention, however, this is a demanding and technical rando, with a serious positive denial: to be booked when it is not too hot, and well equipped!
2. Ascension of Monte Gozzi

Incontournable among the hikes of the south of Corsica, at the top of the ranking also if one considers the whole island of Beauty: the Monte Gozzi dominates the entire bay of Ajaccio , offering one of the most beautiful panoramas of Corsica.
Another advantage is a walk that is easily accessible and backward, without major difficulty, provided you take your time, and avoid the hottest hours, because the shadow is rare on the Monte Gozzi... Prefer instead the morning hour for bright colors, or at the very end of the day, to see the sun decline, before turning back.
3. GR20, to Conca

The GR20 is one of the most mythical hiking trails in the world... a path that crosses the whole of Corsica through its mountains from north to south, difficult as well as splendid, it is necessary to have time in front of oneself to travel in its entirety, as well as a good level...
Then why not choose a stretch of this hike in the south of Corsica? To do things right, you can “stop” the GR20 in a few hours with this final stage ending in Conca: the Bavella Aiguilles behind you, a superb panorama on the Mediterranean on the horizon: a memorable hike!
4. Roundinara Tower

A small hike from the south of Corsica, easy and popular, the Tour de Rondinara will certainly be short in duration, but indispensable to enjoy one of the most beautiful coastal landscapes of the island. From the top of this promontory, at 56 m, the view of the Corsican coastline and the Mediterranean is unbearable.
East full east, sunrise is a must ! An ideal walk in summer, with bathing breaks on the small beaches to prolong the pleasure, or quite out of season, to browse a point of deserted Rondinara, in all tranquility.
5. The summit of Punta Vacca Morta

Translate “Pointe de la Vache Morte”, a not engaging name for one of the most beautiful hikes in southern Corsica! Some will be discouraged by a somewhat stiff denial by place, especially on the very end, but as always, you will be greatly rewarded with your efforts once at the top.
Indeed, a 360° panorama on the Alta Rocca massif and the bay of Porto-Vecchio It deserves... To return to the refuge of Cartalavonu, take the same path but in the other direction, you can no longer lose yourself.
6. The Customs Trail Bonifacio

Difficult to do more southern than this hike in South Corsica: you start on the port of Bonifacio, for this beautiful buckle on an ancient Genoese path, where you can enjoy pleasant stopovers at the beach of the Catena, at the flagship of the Madonetta, in the bay of Fazzio, and on the beach of Paragan.
The trail is frequented in the season, but has the advantage of being accessible to the largest number of walkers. In a shift from the tourist season, it is a paradise!
7. The Bruzzi Trail

Here it will be as much question to hike in the south of Corsica as to swim and snorkeling... think about all your equipment before leaving! Not far from Bonifacio, the Bruzzi Trail is a small easy route for the whole family, which runs through the nature reserve of the Bouches de Bonifacio.
The clarity of the sea pushes to descend on the edges of the cove and the small beaches of the trail (plage Hugo, beach of Thia), and then mask and tuba replace your walking shoes... It's a wonderful day for you. Attention to the low season, choose your hiking hours.
8. Stage 1 of the Mare a Mare Sud

With the Mare a Mare Sud, you can hike in the south of Corsica from east to west, from Porto Vecchio to Propriano, via the Alta Rocca mountains! A beautiful itinerary but it takes 5 to 6 days walking: a true trek of 80 km.
