1. Place du Défilé – Warsaw

With an area of 240 000 m2 the Place du Défilé is the largest in Europe. This large square is limited to the North by the Rue de la Croix Sacrée, to the South by the Avenue de Jerusalem, to the East by Marshal Street and to the West by the Palace of Culture and Science built at the same time as it in the 1950s in Warsaw.
The Place du Défilé was one of the most important places in Poland under the communist era. After the fall of communism it turned into a vast open-air market where local farmers expose their fresh products every morning.
2. Place des Quinconces – Bordeaux

Second largest square in Europe with an area estimated at 126,000 m2, the Place des Quinconces is located in Bordeaux. Built in 1820 in the right-of-way of Château Trompette, this large square was historically used to mimic rebellion within the city.
Its modern history is particularly marked by the installation of tram lines in 2003. After that, the Place des Quinconques became one of the most important transport hubs of the Ninth city of the country . Various sculptures are still admirable. Especially the Monument to the Girondins.
3. Place Parker’s Piece – Cambridge

High place of British Royalty, the Place Parker’s Piece is the third largest square in Europe with an area of 100,000 m2.
Located in the city of Cambridge, the square is the place where the first rules of football were voted. It is also known to be the crowning place of Queen Victoria, one of the emblematic figures of the British Empire in 1838.
4. La Place de l’Unification – Bucharest

Unit Square (or Place de l’Unification) is Europe’s fourth largest square with an area estimated at 97,000 m2. Built in the early 1900s, the Place de l’Unification de Bucharest is located in the heart of the city, where sectors 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Romanian capital meet.
Especially decorated with monuments of all kinds, the Place is suitable for family walks and outings. Especially in the summer. It also houses one of the most important metro stations in Bucharest, Piața Unirii.
5. Place du Pré de la Vallée – Padua

Italy is a country full of treasures inherited from its long past as a Roman Empire. One of the remains of this era is Europe’s fifth largest square, the Place du Pré de la Vallée.
Vast of almost 9 hectares, the Place du Pré de la Vallée is located in Padua and enjoys a unique configuration.
It has a centrally located elliptical island called Memmia Island, which makes 20,000 m2 of total area. A canal surrounds the banks of the island of Memmia, which are set with architectural statues and monuments. The remaining 70,000 m2 consists of parks and rest areas of all kinds where are mixed greenery and statues.
6. Saint-Étienne Park – Dublin

Created in 1663, the Parc Saint-Étienne is Europe’s sixth largest place. Its area is estimated at 89,000 m2, making it the largest square in Dublin and Ireland. Located in the heart of the Irish capital, this large is mainly made up of artificial water parks and courses.
Various monuments can be admired, including the 1967 famine memorial or the St Stephen’s Green Fountain. However, it is above all the Arch of the rifles at the entrance of the park that captures the attention of almost all the tourists who venture there. This is probably due to its resemblance to the Arc du Triomphe de Paris.
7. La Place de la Concorde – Paris

Second large French square and seventh European, the Place de la Concorde is a monument of 86,400 sq. m. of historic area.
Founded in 1763, this large square is located in the 8th arrondissement of the French capital, Paris. Various monuments represent places of interest in the park to be visited and contemplated absolutely. This is for example the obelisk of the Place de la Concorde, the statue of Strasbourg, the fountain of the Fleves or the fountain of the Seas of Jacques Hittorff, to mention only those.
The square is especially famous for being the place of guillotines of famous historical figures, including Louis XVI, January 21, 1793, Marie-Antoinette of Austria, October 16, 1793 and physicist Antoine Lavoisier, May 8, 1794.
8. Esplanade – Corfu

Located in the city of Corfu in Greece, Esplanade is the eighth largest square in Europe with an area estimated at 84,000 m2. Highly located in the helonic culture, this place is between the Old Fort in the East and the Old Town in the West.
Very popular tourist destination, this large square is composed of parks and playgrounds of cricket.
9. Place Charles – Prague

The Czech Republic is one of the most historic European countries. One of the vestiges of this story is nothing but Place Charles which was built in 1348 in Prague. Vast of 80,500 m2, The Emperor Charles IV ordered his construction to extend the area of the Czech capital. The project was originally named Prague Nouvelle Ville, and was baptized Place Charles in tribute to his instigator to the death of Charles IV.
In charge of history, there are several places of interest, including the New Town Hall, St Ignatius Church, St. John’s Church in Nepomuk and the sumptuous building of the University of Technology in Prague.
Place Charles has become a public transport hub thanks to the installation of Karlovo Metro Station.
10. Museum Square – Amsterdam

Originally a candle factory, the Museum Square is Europe’s tenth largest square with an area estimated at 79,000 m2. The peculiarity of the latter is precisely... to concentrate within it a large density of museums.
Various places of interest have been built over time, including the Consulate General of the United States, the Stedelijk Museum or the Van Gogh Museum . However, the most attractive of the sites on this large square is undoubtedly the diamond museum.
