The Budapest Card is the official business card of the Budapest Tourist Office. Thanks to this, tourists will benefit for one, two or three days of unlimited access to museums, baths, public transport of the city and a free ride to the hotel. We don't carry his heavy bag like a dead donkey for hours!
The map allows you to get between 10% and 50% discount on admission to museums, transport, restaurants, spas or Budapest visits at night.
In addition, the Budapest Zoo and seven museums are free of charge thanks to the Pass. For example, that of the ancient Roman city Aquincum – founded in 89 on a former Celtic camp. The visitor will learn that in the 1st century of our era, the Roman city served as a military base for the Roman garrisons and, as part of the Roman Empire’s border defence system, to protect the city from enemy incursions. Visiting Budapest with a CityPass allows you to learn more about the history of the city – from the Romans to the Magyars, from the Ottomans to the Habsburgs and to the present day – especially since the Budapest history museum is also free with the map.
The Budapest Card allows you to visit Budapest by visiting five other museums for free, from the wonders of the Hungarian cultural heritage, for example the Vasarely Museum of the eponymous painter, the Hungarian National Museum, where you will learn more about the Hungarian state foundation or the Budapest Fine Arts Museum.
The Budapest Card will allow hot bath lovers to relax in a dozen spa establishments as well as in the famous Baths of Lukacs and its few eight swimming pools, thermes Gellért or Széchenyi . If you are interested in water, but in another way, go for a cruise on the Danube (for Pass holders 48 hours)!
Gourmands and unstoppable epicureans will also not be left behind: a dozen restaurants work in partnership with the tourist office, which offers visitors discounts from 10% to 30% on their meals!
Two guided tours to visit Budapest with an English-speaking guide are also possible: in Buda for one, and in Pest for the other.
Getting around in Budapest
Although Budapest’s transport has a reputation for low cost, it will not cost the carriers of the Budapest Card to visit Budapest. For 24, 48 or 72 hours, Pass holders can use the metro, tram, bus, trolleybus, funicular and HÉV train (the equivalent of the Paris RER) in an unlimited way.
The site of the public transport of the city allows you to check the schedules of each line, although generally, the service is functional from 4:30 am to 11 pm.
Having such a ticket will save 10,10 € (going) or 16,80 € (going + return) for the airport shuttle when transferring to the city centre.
Budapest Card prices
The ticket-passport to visit Budapest is available in three options:
- City Pass de 24 heures : 17 €
- City Pass of 48 hours : 27 €
- City Pass 72 hours : 33 €
You can see that the Pass three days only costs € 6 more than the Pass two days. It can therefore be interesting to book a ticket for three days, in order to distribute the visits and fully enjoy the city without making the crazy race to the monuments, for in the end, see nothing else simply overflight.

The City Pass will be available at your hotel where you can withdraw it upon arrival. Alternatively, it is possible to choose the removal of the card at the airport.
