Tour du Mont-Blanc (France, Switzerland, Italy)

Duration between 7 and 10 days

Distance 170 km

Often ranked in the TOP 10 of the most beautiful treks in the world, it is riding on three countries, around Mont Blanc. In France, the departure is from Les Houches, near Chamonix. Each day of hiking brings its lot of breathtaking panoramas. You cross eight valleys and climb several passes, including those of the Bonhomme, the Seigne and the Balme. You will find yourself frequently above 2,500 m. Prudence, it has some technical passages that need to be in good shape. The accommodation options are numerous and varied throughout the trek.

GR® 20 in Corsica (France)

Duration : about 15 days

Distance 200 km

Known all over the world, this trek, often referred to as mythical, allows to appreciate the great diversity of Corsican landscapes. It begins in Calenzana northwest, to end in Canca southeast, following the water-sharing line. You go from ridge to ridge, between 275 m and 2 225 m, with important denivels. The sublime beauty of the landscapes deserves and you have to borrow difficult passages, equipped with handrails and ladders.

The Cinque Terre (Italy)

From Monterosso and Riomaggiore, on the Ligure coast in Italy, these are five medieval villages that are connected by hiking paths, including those of the Lovers. The long path that passes through the mountain will make you cross olive groves, vineyards and fields of aromatic plants and offers you magnificent views of these atypical villages.

Chemin de l’Inca (Peru)

Duration 4-5 days

This trek, which leads to the mythical site of Machu Picchu, can only be done with an agency. Since the number of departures is limited to 500 per day, it is imperative to book long in advance. The departure is from KM 82, near the Olantaytambo fortress, two hours drive from Cuzco. You have the summits of the Andes on the horizon, while evolving among many uncasing vestiges. Prepare for altitude evil: these vary between 2,400 m and 4,198 m. Shaved vegetation gradually makes room for the lush surroundings of the Amazon forest.

Torres del Paine (Chile)

The entire Torres del Paine National Park, Chile, is also called O, because it makes a loop of about 110 km. The shorter version is the W, 76 km long. The trek makes you bypass a fascinating massif, including the famous towers ( Torres ) and horns ( los Cuernos ). Glaciers, lagoons with improbable colors, guanacos, flamingos and condors are also at the rendezvous. Careful, it is mandatory to reserve its accommodation or camping places before entering the park and, very long in advance.

Zion Narrows (United States)

This trek follows the bed of the Virgin River southwest of Utah. It is a succession of narrow passages, lined with abrupt rocks, which are in superb shades of red. Waterfalls come out of the canyon flanks, creating real suspended gardens. Some portions must be made to swim sometimes, so it is important to be well equipped. This rando is, if not, very easy as it does not contain any denial. Find out before you leave on the risks of floods, as access is not recommended in these circumstances.

Everest Base Camp (Nepal)

Duration 10 to 15 days

Distance 62 km

Sometimes referred to as “March to Heaven”, this trek is one of the most affordable in the region. However, it requires a good physical condition. From Kathmandu, you fly to Lukla, 2 800 m away. You then follow the walking days to reach 5,364 m. You cross small villages and can immerse yourself in local culture. The views of the Everest and the entire chain are unforgettable.

Markha Valley (India)

Distance 110 km

The Indian side of the Himalayas has many treks, still relatively confidential. The Markha Valley, in the region of Petit Tibet, offers a wide variety of landscapes, while being relatively short. The easiest way to get there is to land in Leh, which is more than 3,200 m above sea level and 20 minutes from the starting point: Spituk. On your way, you visit Tibetan monasteries, meet a warm population and observe many wild animals.

Best period spring and autumn

Duration 1 to 10 days

Distance between 3 and 40 km

Of course, there is no question of going through the 6,700 km of the longest protection wall on the planet! Most of the treks offered last four to five days, during which five to ten kilometres per day, for three to five hours of walking, or rather climbs and stairs. It is possible to leave Badaling or Mutijanu, the closest to Beijing. However, for a more intimate experience, it is better to start further in Simatai, for example, to go to Jinshanling in a day.

The Kilimandjaro offers many treks possibilities, the best of which is probably the one that runs the Machame route. Be careful, this volcanic mountain is not within reach of all and you will need to be a seasoned trekker to reach the summit, at 5,890 m! You start at 1,850 m, cross the equatorial forest, steppe, desert and moraines to finish with the high mountain. Accompaniment by a sworn guide is mandatory.

Country Dogon (Mali)

A journey out of time, which allows you to meet the Dogon people and their ancestral customs. The villages built on the cliff side are part of the discovery. The landscapes range from the lush forest to the Sahel desert. However, this trek is not currently available, the country being closed to tourism.

Traversée du Tongariro (New Zealand)

It makes you climb the least of the three volcanoes of Tongariro Park. The trek begins on the parking lot of Mangatepopo, southwest, and ends on that of Ketetahi, north. You cross an accidental plain, dotted with waterfalls, discover colored crater lakes, including red, which peaks at 1,886 m, to finish by the forest. Great views on the way to Mount Doom, Lord of the Rings, and even on the Taranaki, 100 km from there.

Overland Track (Tasmanie)

In southern Australia, of which it is a state, Tasmania is a concentrate of its great sister, the desert in less. The Everland trek crosses the Cradle Mountain National Park. It can only be done in the north-south sense, from Ronnie Creek to Lac Saint-Clair. Rather easy, it crosses landscapes of landes, forests and waterfalls, with Mont Cradle online mire.
