1. The North

The North is certainly one of the best surf spots in Hossegor and especially the best known of the Landes coast. The winding waves off can reach the 6 meters, making it one of the most famous beach breaks in the world! Closer to the beach, in short breaks, the waves rise up to 3 meters high. With its often optimal conditions and beautiful waves that dig, we quickly understand why this spot is often considered the best beach break in Europe, even the world for the locals! Attention, La Nord is not recommended to beginner surfers. The waves being powerful, they can be dangerous for the uninitiated. It should be noted that this exceptional surf spot is, as its name suggests, a few hundred meters north of the Central Beach. The latter is the best spot and the most frequented.
2. The Gravière

The Gravière is with La Nord one of the spots that made Hossegor’s world famous! If the seaside town is considered “the best beach break” in France, it is thanks to the round and powerful waves that break in shore break in La Gravière. Depending on the sand banks, they can reach 3 or 4 meters high. Its frank and massive tubes, close to the edge, make the joy of all experienced practitioners. 3. The Nus Culs

The spot “Les Culs Nus” is located north of the beach of Hososgor on the border with the beaches of Seignosse. Its name comes from the naturist beach of the Nus Culs. Despite its reception of surf competitions, the spot remains less known than La Nord and La Gravière. You will find impressive waves, up to 5 meters in winter, and as beautiful as La Gravière in short breaks. The seasoned surfers should not be confined to the two most famous spots in the city. 4. South

Also known as Notre-Dame and shared with Capbreton, the spot of La Sud is ideal for beginners. By large swell, waves can reach 1.5 meters. Easy access to other beaches in the north of the coast, it is one of the best surf spots in Hossegor to start this exceptional sport! The South, like La Centrale, is an excellent folding spot when the swell becomes too big or the ocean too agitated.
5. The Estagnots in Seignosse

If Hossegor is the best known of the three nearby seaside towns, you must not forget Seignosse and Capbreton. Both are high-lights of French surfing! The spot "Les Estagnots" in Seignosse is proof. This very technical spot offers a real challenge to experienced surfers. Uncommon to beginners, this spot allows to surf waves of 3 meters. His difficulty then comes from the waves that break behind the bayonet. A non-initiate can thus have trouble reaching the beach after the rising mid-market or downhill tide! 6. La Santocha in Capbreton

Located on the Beach of Savane, Santocha is one of the legendary spots of the Landes coast. She is named after the historic surf club "La Santocha", located at the top of the beach since 1975. The latter was named in reference to the surf film "The Forgotten Island Of Santosha" released in 1974. It is one of the best spots in Hossegor and its surroundings. Here you will find a long right that ends in the blockhouse. The latter dates back to the Second World War and belonged to the “Atlantic Wall”. A beautiful left also starts to the beach. However, it ends on an epi of artificial rocks, which makes it more technical. On this surf spot in Capbreton, the height of the waves can easily reach 1.50 meters or even 2 meters, for a 3 metre swell. This spot is also not recommended to beginners because of the current, which can be powerful and vicious!
7. The Bourdaines in Seignosse

Just north of the spot Les Estagnots, you will find another of the best surf spots in Hossegor and its surroundings. Located in the city of Seignosse, the Bourdaines beach offers a superb spot where it is possible to surf high tide as at low tide. Depending on the swell, Bourdaines can be accessible at all levels. When the conditions are met, the waves can reach 2 meters or more, depending on the sand banks, the wind and the type of swell. However, the current is sometimes very strong. If the spot is not unadvised to the novices, they must nevertheless remain careful especially when the waves are powerful! The spot is very versatile, it is often very frequent, especially during the summer season.
8. The Track in Capbreton

Located south of the beach of Santocha (or Savane), the spot of La Piste is the largest of the seaside resort of Capbreton. It is also one of the best surf spots in Hossegor and its surroundings. To reach it, you just have to go to the Piste beach, which is south of the blockhouse. The beach is well accessible and the spot interesting. Nevertheless, beginners and novices must be very careful. Blockhouses and currents can be dangerous. The water depth is also low in the impact area, so you have to be careful! With the exception of these precautions, you will find in La Piste a large shore break hollow and rolling on little water. Waves can sometimes reach 3 meters. But above all, the spot often works, with high tide and low tide. Surfers can easily reach it if conditions are not optimal in the north!
9. The Prevent in Capbreton

The Prevent is not the easiest spot. The currents are powerful the days of big swell and they can even reverse to the North at the level of dikes. In spite of all, it is an excellent folding spot that offers a quality right-left peak. The waves can reach up to 1.50 meters for a 3 metre swell. You will find it on the beach of the same name, opposite the C.E.R.S and just north of the Santocha. Note that the spot is not recommended to beginners and non-initiates because of the strong currents!
10. Labenne Océan

To enjoy friendly spots away from the crowds, you sometimes have to get away a little bit from Hossegor. Recently, Labenne Océan has become the new trendy spot for those who want to flee the beaches frequented by Hososgor. On the Labenne Central Beach, you will find a nice spot, with pretty waves in shore break. When the conditions are optimal, the tubes are perfect and the spot can be very interesting for seasoned surfers. To reach this spot, follow the D652 to Labenne and then the D126 to Labenne Océan. Once in town, the beach is immanquable.
11. Undertones Beach

North of Seignosse and just before the village of Vieux Boucau is the quiet and charming spot of Soustons. The beach has a beautiful setting, with the Landes forest on the heights and the ocean just for yourself. To reach it, follow the D652 to Vieux Boucau and take the exit direction Soustons Plage. Parking is located behind the dune. A small five minute walk will take you to the beach where you will find this peaceful surf spot. Left-right peaks rise along the beach. Pay attention to currents, especially since the beach is sometimes not crowded or even deserted! Waves, they can reach 2 to 3 metres depending on the conditions.
