Cephalonia is full of wonderful diving spots. From wrecks to the bomber plane, to caves and reefs, the treasures that sleep at the bottom of them are immense.

With this activity, you will have the opportunity to experience diving in six different sites around the island. The program? Two dives a day one in the morning and another in the afternoon, according to the dive team program.

First, Christine Lome, the sword of smuggler . At twenty minutes from the beach of Mirtos, this small ferry lies at the bottom of the water at twenty-five meters deep. Abyss accessible only to divers already certified.

If the mysterious wrecks you like, you will love the second site of this adventure as well. The Roman wreck , assoupie near the beach of Antisamos and made famous by the film “The mandolin of Captain Corellis”, sunk more than two thousand years ago. Despite his rotten carcass, the vessel went out and left behind more than a thousand amphores, visible from five to twenty-five metres deep. The most experienced will be able to descend to thirty-five meters to admire the anchor.

The third site, Junkers 88 , is a World War II plane. The fate of this German bomber, a victim of the assaults of an English warship, is admired in two parts. The most spectacular is certainly its ever-gloss and visible aluminum engine at more than twenty meters. The rear part of the aircraft is buried at 30-six metres: depth reserved for qualified divers.

The fourth diving site is a submarine named HMS Perseus . This time, it is an equipment of the British fleet. Carved by enemy submarine grenades, her carcass remained intact. However, it junches the sand at a depth that requires a great experience of scuba diving.

This adventure dive in Cephalonia also contains natural treasures such as Grotte des Cyclopes . In front of the picturesque village of Fiskardo Kefalonia, this spacious cavity is accessible from 16 meters depth. The second entrance is located thirty five metres, in a bright blue and bright environment. This part of the cave is however reserved for experienced divers.

Other natural treasure: the St. Andrew’s , the sixth and last site where dive in Cephalonia during this activity. In view of the paradisiacal bay of St Andrew’s, this legendary dive takes you along a vertical wall that sinks more than thirty-five meters below the surface. The panorama is spectacular! The reef deploys beautiful sponges and you will even have the opportunity to see some amphores and octopuses hidden under their debris. In addition, only the free water certificate is required for this dive.

Our tips for scuba diving in Cephalonia

The warm and calm waters of Cephalonia offer good visibility throughout the year. Nevertheless, the best season to dive extends from May to November . If summer offers the best conditions (hot water and no wind) it is also the most busy season. Thus, we recommend the months of May and October in order to benefit from low-season prices and possibly more intimate sessions. Only precaution: a thicker combination.

Near the coasts, visibility is more variable especially because of the movement of the boats. Marine life is also more scattered. For a better experience, promote diving sites in Cephalonia that are further offshore.

We also recommend subscribing to travel insurance that covers scuba diving.
