1. The wreck of the Giannoula K

This freighter sunk off Plimiri in 1981 after being caught in a storm. The low depth at which it relies in fact a diving site in Rhodes perfect for all levels. The boat is placed slightly inclined on the side on a sandy bottom of 21 meters.

You will be impressed by the 110 meters in length of the cargo that you will not be able to explore in a single dive. The centers usually offer a package of 2 excursions to visit the wreck, but you could program a lot more before you have done the tour!

You usually start with an exploration of the exterior of the boat, the highest parts of which are 15 metres deep. You can admire the different vestiges and imagine the life of the sailors.

During the second dive, you will enter the wreck through large openings. The light illuminates the interior of the boat, which allows you to venture safely, always with a guide. The engine room is not to be missed, with the many cables and tanks still present.

The local fauna has invested the freighter, and you will be able to see murenas, balists, lionfish and even turtles if you are lucky.

2. The cave of Lindos

The arrival by boat in Lindos is always spectacular. You jump from the boat in front of a cliff on which the acropolis stands. Once you’re underwater, you’ll find some of the best dive sites in Rhodes. No less than 6 different sites await you.

Screws go down to 70 meters and will make the happiness of the tec divers. Others will also be able to explore the wall according to their maximum allowed depth. By taking a look in the blue, you can see large-headed carangues or hunting tuna. Seals have even been spotted several times, but the probability of seeing them remains rare.

One of the best diving spots in Rhodes is in Lindos, it is its famous cave, also known as the tomb of Cleobulus . You enter into two gigantic domes connected between them by a submarine corridor.

Inside, you will need your lamp to uncover the small shrimps and nudibranches that populate the walls. This dive in Rhodes is considered one of the best in the country!

3. Pentanissos

Pentanissos literally means "5 islands". It is a set of islands located off Lindos and one of the best diving sites in Rhodes. The island configuration offers many possibilities in terms of routes. You can dive there several times without ironing in the same place.

Wildlife varies between species that come to find refuge along the walls and predators that cross in the blue. Pentanissos is above all a network of caves and underground passages that form a real labyrinth. A great spot for those who want to learn to scuba diving.

4. Saint Paul

From the beach of Saint Paul you will have access to 2 dive sites in Rhodes: the reef and caves. The reef of Saint-Paul is perfect for baptisms or rehabilitation. The conditions inside the bay are ideal, with little current and good visibility.

Rock formations provide habitat to the typical Mediterranean fauna. There you can see many rock fish, murene, octopuses and pretty coral formations. The caves of Saint Paul, at a depth of 18 metres, are accessible to open water divers accompanied by a guide. It represents a diving spot in Rhodes ideal to pass an underground specialty!

5. Ladiko

You will go directly from the beach to join this dive site in Rhodes. After you are equipped, you swim a few meters and then empty your vest to let you down. In ancient times, a boat failed in the bay. If the wreck has completely disappeared, the bay is filled with objects such as amphora and ceramic pots. Wait for a dive of a great archaeological interest.

At the end of the bay, an impressive falling plunge from 6 meters to 32 meters deep. You can explore the wall to the depth authorized by your certification. Search for multicolored nudibranches that feed on sponges. A few cries cross in the depths, while in the blue, the barracudas quietly await their next prey.

6. Marine park

You will go by boat in the vicinity of Makri Island, a few kilometers off Rhodes. The marine park is a protected area of fishing and is thus home to an important marine fauna. You may have the chance to see dolphins following the boat, and even visiting during the dive.

Yellow tunas found refuge in this area spared by fishermen, and some specimens can reach 200 kilos. Other species such as sea wolves, merous or dorades will embellish your dive in Rhodes.

A small wreck was flown voluntarily, and begins to be invaded by corals and fish that made their habitat. The majority of diving sites are between 15 and 28 meters deep, making the diving interesting from the certification « advanced open water » or level 2 FFESSM.

7. Kolymbia

Kolymbia is an all-indicated site for fun as a beginner. The departure is made from the edge, ideal for a smooth entry into the world of scuba diving. The water is clear and calm, without current, offering perfect conditions for a baptism or first dive in Rhodes.

At a maximum of 12 metres, the funds alternate between sand, rock formations and pesidonia herbaria. Also, many species are hidden in these different habitats, including multicolored fish, octopus or seiches.

Beautiful black anemones are also visible on the site, and the aguerri eye can debust some pretty nudibranches.

Finally, during the diving, you can cross a small tunnel through the rocks.
