Olvera, south of Spain, is on the road to the White Villages
Olvera is a small village located in the heart of the mountains of Cadiz, Andalusia . The main monument of the village is actually the city itself, with its houses bleached with lime and its steep alleys leading all towards the impressive silhouettes of its church and sound Castle at the top of the hill.
The surrounding hills of Olvera are full of plantations olive trees which offer the best olive oil extraction from Andalusia. It is believed that the name of the village is linked to the amount of olive trees in the region.

Olvera is one of the most beautiful routes through Andalusia: the route des Villages Blancs . More or less distant from major cities, this route allows the visit of small villages in the provinces of Málaga and Cadiz with a special emphasis on landscapes and natural sites. However, there is not only one “white village road” but several, allowing to escape a little more in this region of Spain.

To travel this road to the villages so characteristic, it is necessary to plan between 2 and 3 days by car. The ideal being to take time and to stay in one of the hotels present in each village. The distance is only 300 km but the desire to stop to observe the landscape and visit the villages is catching. The best time to drive the white villages is during the spring/early summer (from March to June) and fall (from September to November). It is even possible to visit it during the winter (February).
