The name behind the neighborhood comes from the fifth head of the Department of Roads, Phra Bisal Sukhumvit . Phra Bisal was responsible for Thailand’s road infrastructure during the Second World War and the following years. Sukhumvit is the heart of the night life in Bangkok. Nevertheless, it is also the district par excellence to find a good restaurant.

  • However, if you are looking for something more traditional, then The Local Will be perfect for you! This restaurant does not attempt to reinvent traditional Thai cuisine, but will refine it. The Local’s dishes are delightful to dream and always offer a beautiful presentation. This restaurant is worth the detour for sure, however be ready, because it is very spicy.

How do I get to Sukhumvit?

To easily reach the neighborhood to visit Sukhumvit, take the connecting train from the airport to Phayathai . Then transfer to the BTS Skytrain Sukhumvit line that will lead you directly to Nana.

  • The train price will be near 2€.
  • The BTS will only cost 1€.

To avoid transfers and waiting, you can take a taxi from the airport. This one will cost you between 8€ and 10€ . Otherwise you also have the option to take the taxi to Mo Chit. Then you can move in skytrain to the Sukhumvit line. In any case, you can always take the shuttles from the airport. The journey however has one duration of about 1 hour.
