Are you going to Maldives to see atolls, lagoons and white sand beaches? Here is our selection of some islands to sleep in the Maldives!
Where to stay in the Maldives? Is that a matter of concern to you? The Maldives archipelago, as lost in the middle of the Indian Ocean, is a country composed of 1,199 islands in the southwest of the India and Sri Lanka , close to the equator level. In 2017, the Maldivian population was 436,330, but most of the premises live in Malé (142,909 inhabitants), the capital and economic, cultural, political and financial centre of the country. Recently criticized for being unscrupulous of respect for Human Rights, the Maldives is an ideal destination for many travellers, dreaming of blue lagoons, white sandy beaches, and turquoise seas heated every day of the year by 30°C. The islands consist of atolls, former volcanic islands whose rocks have eroded and deepened under the oceans.
But on which island to stay in Maldives? Just let you know: renting accommodation on an island-hotel where to sleep in the Maldives requires a good budget, so be sure! In particular, you know that it is difficult to choose on which island-hotel to stay in Maldives. So to anticipate the best of your trip and give you some thoughts, here is a selection of some islands where to sleep.
Malé
Choose to stay in Malé will be logical if you want to be in contact with the local population of Maldives, and at the heart of urban and social activity. There are many hotels where to sleep inside the city, which appears as a rock placed almost in the middle of nowhere. A dozen parks and green spaces allow you to stroll between the alleys and shopping boulevards in the city centre.
At the port, the ferry terminal leads to many islands and atolls, as if one sweeps along a spider web. To get out and feel the vibrating soul of the capital, many restaurants and cafes have gabled on the street, almost everywhere! The advantage of the island-city is that everything is on foot: Malé is only 2.5 km long and 1 km wide.

Rasdhoo
L’ island of Rasdhoo is a few minutes’ walk from the Ferry boat to the west of Malé. It is an atoll composed of five islands, and populated by 867 inhabitants. It is between the uninhabited islands of Kuramathi , Madivaru and Madivaru Finolhu . Boat connections allow you to go on these first two and enjoy beautiful beaches by swimming in the lagoons away from the waves and sharks. There are a few hotels – to be booked in advance – where to sleep in Rasdu (or Rasdhoo). If you practice diving and/or snorkeling, this is where you have to go to stay in the Maldives.

Ari’s atoll
Located northwest of the Maldives Islands, atoll d’Ari is one of the most visited, but we will not feel like trapped by the hordes of tourists who teem in the most beautiful places. In Maldives, the government's credo is "an island, a hotel." As a result, there are enough islands and atolls to manage the tourist affluence. Staying at Ari’s atoll makes it possible to fully enjoy its passion for scuba diving, and to observe seabeds with breathtaking wealth. 80 desert islets are Ari’s atoll: in a word, sublime!

Lhaviyani atoll
How to choose an island where to stay in the Maldives knowing that they are all heavenly and peaceful? L’ atoll Lhaviyani is one of the most appreciated in the country. The atoll is 701.42 km2 with the lagoon and islands and consists of 52 islands, 5 of which are inhabited. The Lhaviyani atoll will offer many tourist activities, such as fishing, swimming, diving – you will see giant turtles, dolphins and manta rays – and snorkeling. Each island of the atoll has its own peculiarity. In Lhaviyani, temperatures are warmer than the nearby islands and it is rather a place for the beach. To walk on the sand banks or simply do nothing at all, the islet of Kuredu turns out to be unmistakable.
