If you have a week to devote to Tunisia, you have a choice between discovering the North or the South.
Here is the route to visit the north of the country:
- Day 1 to 3: Tunis and its surroundings. The beautiful Tunisian capital is visiting for its medina, souk and port, but also for the famous National Museum of Bardo. This is the second museum of the African continent after the Cairo Museum! Then visit the surroundings of the city: the Phoenician vestiges of Carthage, the pretty village of Sidi Bou Saïd... ;
- Day 4: Sousse (1h45, 145 km). This beautiful port city is nicknamed the "earth of the Sahel". Its pretty traditional houses, its medina and its monuments are worth a visit... without forgetting its beaches!
- Day 5: Kairouan (55 min, 55 km). Welcome to the first Holy City of the Maghreb! Kairouan is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for the wealth of its old town and its religious heritage. You are advised to spend the night there;
- Day 6: Djebel Zaghdoud National Park (1h10, 65 km). Small getaway in this discreet park, which contains a typical biodiversity. Aleppo pines, red juniper, sumac, lentisque olive trees, green oaks... But also historical vestiges near Ksar Lemsa;
- Day 7: back to Tunis.
And to discover the Southeast:
- Day 1 to 4: Djerba. Here it is above all to enjoy the beaches and the sun. But the island also offers some visits to do: ibadite architecture, Houmt-Souk, Ghriba Synagogue, Djerba Explore...
- Day 5: Pain (2h, 145 km). Visit of the fortified greniers of Douiret. The landscapes are breathtaking. On the way, stop at the ghorfas of Médenine;
- Day 6: Ksar-ouled-Soltane and Guermessa (1h25, 80 km). Visit of two fortified villages (ksour) of the region, among incredible lunar landscapes;

To visit Tunisia by camping-car, it is better to have a good month in front of you! Here is a route proposal:
- Day 1 to 4: Tunis and its surroundings. Discover all the treasures of the capital: the monuments, the medina, the souk... Plan a half-day at the Bardo National Museum for you to impregnate Tunisian history. Don't miss visiting Carthage and the village Sidi Bou Saïd;
- Day 5 to 7: archaeological sites (6h50, 360 km). Join Tabarka by the coast, without missing Bizerte and Cap Serrat. From there, join the ancient sites of Bulla Regia and Dougga;
- Day 8 and 9: Nabeul and Hammamet (2h50, 190 km). Join the coast to starve you on the pretty cities of Nabeul and Hammamet;
- Day 10: Sousse (1h15, 100 km). Take advantage of the beauty of the alleys and beaches of the "early Sahel";
- Day 11: Kairouan (55 min, 55 km). The spiritual capital of Tunisia is full of treasures;

What documents do you have on board?
To drive in Tunisia by motorhome, make sure to take on board the following documents:

Finally, we enjoy the beaches of Djerba and its surroundings from June to October. But if you want to travel in the South of Tunisia by camping-car without facing the heavy heat, it is better to go from February to June or October to December .
