Fourth city of Poland and one of the oldest in the country, Wroclaw is located in the southwest, in the heart of Lower Silesia. The city has 638 000 inhabitants, spread over 292.92 km2. It is nicknamed the Polish Venice thanks to its 12 islands and 120 bridges. But Wroclaw is best known for its cultural, architectural and historical richness due to its strategic position and the Bohemian, Austrian and Prussian influences that shaped it.
Visiting Wroclaw will allow you both to discover this fascinating history and the cultural gems of the city, but also to appreciate and apprehend local life and its tranquility. Wroclaw is a very lively city, renowned for its nightlife and festivals in addition to its heritage! Fortunately for you, staying in Wroclaw is quite simple: the offer of accommodation in Wroclaw is abundant and it will be easy for you to find your happiness. But before you book your accommodation in Wroclaw, we think it’s essential to know where you should stay – that’s why we’ll introduce you to the best of the city in this article!
Place du Marché & La Vieille Ville
The heart of the city, the medieval square of the Wroclaw Market (Rynek we Wrocławiu) is one of the largest in Europe. Around it stretches the Old Town to the magnificent and preserved architecture. Traditionally, there are 11 streets that lead to the Place from all directions, each of them has many historic buildings, restaurants, cafes and bars.
Logging in the Old Town of Wroclaw ensures you are both close to tourist and historical attractions, as well as being close to the most festive and vibrant places in the city! If you are visiting Wroclaw in winter, we recommend that you opt for accommodation close to the Place du Marché: it will be easy to get back and enjoy the Christmas Market. Finally, the historic centre is surrounded by a canal and surrounded by beautiful small parks, perfect places to walk and relax after a long day's visit. The Old Town is definitely the most comfortable and convenient place to stay in Wroclaw.

Srodmiescie: where to sleep in Wroclaw, out of historic center
Just next to the Old Town of Wroclaw is the large area of Srodmiescie, less historic but equally pleasant and attractive! Divided in several small areas, we advise you to stay in particular in Nadodrze or in Plac Grunwaldzki. These two places are the closest to the historic centre. You are also a short walk from the pretty small islands on the Oder, between the Old Town and Srodmiescie district.
If you decide to stay in Plac Grunwaldzki, you will also find yourself not far from the magnificent Church of St. Wales of Wrocław and the Zoological Garden of Wroclaw: the largest zoo in Poland and the 5th most visited in Europe, thanks to its impressive collection of fauna and flora! Less noisy, quieter and greener, staying in Wroclaw in the district of Srodmiescie will also save you: the prices are on average cheaper in this neighborhood!

We recommend this area for your accommodation in Wroclaw, especially if you come by train and for a short period of time.
