What if we go to Pisa in the beautiful region of Tuscany? Here is our selection of the best areas to stay in Pisa!
Emblematic city of the famous leaning tower – the torre pendente -, Pisa is the fifth largest city in Tuscany, located between Florence and the Mediterranean Sea. The ancient commercial and maritime power of Antiquity in the Middle Ages, the city of Pisane now houses 90,000 inhabitants and has an impressive historical and cultural heritage compared to the small size of the commune: Piazza del Duomo – including the famous steep tower – many squares, churches and buildings erected in the Middle Ages. This is where a certain Galileo Galilei was born (1564-1642). As everywhere in northern Italy, lodging can be expensive especially during the summer period where millions of tourists come to photograph themselves in front of the Tower of Pisa .
Set in two by the Arno River, the city has four historical districts: Santa Maria, San Francesco, Sant’ Antonio and San Martino.

To sleep in Pisa, we recommend the district of Santa Maria, very central and peaceful. It is located near the Place des Miracles – Piazza dei Miracoli – where you can visit the steep tower and the imposing Notre-Dame de l’Assomption Cathedral. It is the ideal area where to stay in Pisa because everything will be accessible: historical monuments, the active center where to shop at the market – at the piazza delle Vettovaglie – in the day and partying in the evening, with its little pedestrian streets paved with small shops where to shop. A few quiet little bars are scattered in this picturesque old center, and of course restaurants to taste the Tuscan specialties: the pici (exit of spaghetti), zuppe (based on fish), and the famous bruschetta olive oil.

San Francesco is less noisy than Santa Maria. It will delight you if you are looking for a very quiet place to sleep in Pisa. In the evening, go out for a peaceful night stroll along the Arno docks, and enjoy one of the pisans restaurants: Italian cuisine is one of the best and most famous in the world! A quiet area where to sleep in Pisa, with small squares enclosed in the alleys.

San Martino is a neighborhood south of the Arno docks, where it makes good living. We can stroll peacefully between the docks and the Scotto garden. There are shows throughout the summer. Here again, alleys and churches full of charm and multicenterary: it is here that you find Keith Haring’s work, Tuttomondo a street art work that illuminates this area of Pisa.
