Third largest city in Japan, Osaka – a tempacular city of 2,663 million inhabitants – is often blocked by tourists for the benefit of Tokyo, the capital or Kyoto. It is a major activity centre in the city. Minami is effervescent, energetic, living day and night, bright, and scattered many attractions. Multiple restaurants are open 24 hours a day if you have a small fringal and countless shops are on the main street.

Dotonbori Street is undeniably to be overnight, to taste its agitation and its night frog. It is the uncontournable of Osaka but be careful, the street is also very frequented by tourists. Unique decors found only in Osaka – not even in Tokyo or Kyoto – a myriad of neon and illuminated badges, including the “Kani Doraku” (the red crab), like the Kings Cross district in Sydney. Shinsaibashi

It is Osaka’s merchant aorta, the commercial artery of the city. A 600-metre long shopping boulevard that will make you shudder if you have the easy bank card! Wait for you to trample rather than walk: the affluence is such that the shopping street, in the day, is world black. If you like shopping, it is in this area that you have to book your rental (apartment or hotel).

Amerikamura

This is Osaka’s young and trendy neighbourhood. A bobo neighborhood in Osaka was waiting, here it is: young people with a bohemian look and even debridled, or more chic, there are all tastes and dress styles. Numerous small cafes are embedded in the alleys, close to clothing shops, design shops and small bars. If you are young and attracted to the lively areas, it is in Amerikamura that you have to look for accommodation in Osaka.

Nanba

Another lively area in the city centre of Osaka, Nanba is one of the largest neighbourhoods – and one of the most frequented – of Osaka, riding on the Chūō-ku and Naniwa-ku districts. Very lively, innumerable shops – clothes, video games, electronics, souvenir shops, etc. – close to Japanese restaurant cyrielles and big brands. Don’t miss smiling in the Hozenji Yokocho alley if you like the typical Japanese streets, a traditional setting out of time as you love them in Japan. There are about 60 restaurants – nothing! – and the Hozenji temple to visit.

Umeda

In the northern part of the city, Umeda – in the district of Kita – is considered one of the city’s most lively. The skyscrapers, luxury hotels, shopping malls and the Osaka train station are driving the life of the neighbourhood. If you go there, you will find long and endless shopping galleries, your shopping temple in Osaka. If you are planning to visit other cities on the island of Honshu, or to board the Shinkansen, this neighborhood has the advantage of being near Osaka Station: an asset to stay in Osaka!
