Around the castle

It is a sacred high place of the Shintoism that houses the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi – the “grass-breeding sword” – offered to its descendant by the goddess of the Sun, Amaterasu. This sword is the Asian equivalent of Excalibur and is one of the three sacred treasures of Japan. From the top of its 2,000 years of history, it also contains more than 4,000 national treasures.
