Downtown
To sleep in Minsk, would you prefer to be in the city centre? So we advise you to book your accommodation on or around the Avenue de l’Independence, the main artery of the city. Throughout the avenue, you’ll like visit the historic centre and its beautiful monuments: the national library, the market, several academies, theatres and ministries, the palace of the Republic or the central post. Over 15 kilometers, it separates the city in two and crosses several places: the place of independence, the Kalinine square, the Victoire square or the October square, for example.

Trinity Faubourg
To get a glimpse of what the city could look like in the past, book your accommodation at the Trinity Faubourg! This is the only part of Minsk that has remained intact following the German bombings of the 2nd World War. Former administrative and commercial centre of the city, The Trinity Faubourg is today classified in protected historical area. Located on the edge of the Svislotch River, you will enjoy the authentic charm of the neighborhood. Here you can enjoy several interesting monuments and museums, such as the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature or the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
Facing Faubourg, you can visit the island with tears, connected to the city by a bridge. A church was erected to commemorate the Belarusian soldiers who died during the war in Afghanistan (1979-1989). If you walk there on the weekend, you may see a wedding procession: the custom wants the bride to touch the statue of the crying angel, a gesture intended to protect her future children from war.

Gorky Central Park
If you appreciate the softness of public parks in town, look at the side of the Gorky Park to stay in Minsk! Created in 1800 initially under the name Governor’s Garden, it offers several friendly activities during the day, especially if you are travelling with children. You can rent bicycles or a small boat for a ride on the river. An amusement park occupies part of the park with an educational observatory, a large wheel and a planetarium. If you wish, you can even slip your ice skates and take a little ride in the covered ice rink!

Victory Park
Located a little further north, the Victory Park is another green tourist area of Minsk: With its 200 hectares of greenery, its large lake (called Komosol Lake), and its hiking trails, it is the largest park in the city. During your walk, do not miss the bird island, located in the heart of the park, to observe several species of birds, some of which are rare.
