2. Chanioporta
The Chanioporta district is west of the historic centre. As its name suggests, it is located at the entrance of the medieval city of Heraklion, near the Venetian wall. You can easily reach all the attractions of the centre on foot.
This friendly neighborhood is among the best places to stay in Heraklion. Accommodation is on average cheaper than in the centre. 3. Kainourgia Porta – New door
Like the previous quarter, Kainourgia Porta is located at the entrance of the historic city, along the Venetian ramparts. Located south of the city centre, the Nouvelle Porte district also has more affordable housing.

6. Agia Pelagia
Agia Pelagia is located quite far northwest of Heraklion. This village (and seaside resort) is however a great place to stay in Crete. Far from the tumult of the Cretan capital, you will enjoy here the sea, the sun and the calm. Agia Pelagia is surrounded by beautiful beaches and beautiful coves.
